Autumn’s arriving at the door.
🌜
They’re feeling windswept with rosy cheeks from a blustery walk way up high amongst the wild ponies and heather.
🌙
Inside, a freshly laid fire awaits the strike of a match and a bottle of their favourite red wine is eager to be popped and poured.
🌛
New winter wooly socks which they bought for this season wrap around their tired feet.
🌚
The fire crackles and they can hear the distant sound of wind blowing on the other side of these heavy stone walls.
🌑
Ever grateful that they made this happen, they sink into the comfort that surrounds them.

Does your dog need a break away from the winter grind?… get up, go for a walk, back home, eat, sleep and repeat. It can all get a bit much and there’s no better healing than a gallop across some mountains or a sniff around some bracken.

“I’ve never slept somewhere so peaceful and grounding as within the thick stone walls of The Bothy” 💤

You won’t need much here. Some walking boots, your favourite food and a bottle of wine or cider for the evening perhaps. Oh and a book, although there’s a mini library by way of a mid-century cabinet including some favourite board games. Plus bring your dog if you have one. Or borrow one as company for the weekend! Furry guests love it here too 🐾

Need a last-minute getaway?…due to a late cancellation this coming weekend is now available at The Bothy, following which, January is fully booked.

Blow away the New Year’s cobwebs and head off for a wild walk amongst some epic scenery. Then back to your cosy base for food and a roaring fire.

Start the year on the right foot 🥾

A winter getaway beckons…

When creating The Bothy, it was vitally important to us that people could afford to escape their day-to-day and find a place of refuge and escapism. With no Wi-Fi or mobile phone signal, you’ll be out of reach of any Christmas advertising or Black Friday deals. Being able to switch off and restore can be difficult, but a stay at The Bothy ensures you reconnect with what matters to you most and have time to restore.

On the cusp of mid-wales, just north of the , The Bothy is a gateway stopover to explore the lands to the west and north.

Traverse the by foot or motor and head north to the lowlands of Snowdonia, travelling through majestic pine forests.

Nestled at the foot of is the - a place to visit and study and . Where my love of Wales is rooted.

Mid-Wales aka the ‘Green Desert of Wales’ is a barren and sparsely populated wilderness providing peace, nature and breathtaking scenery. Mountains, pine forests, lakes and waterfalls…

This is Big Country walking so pack your favourite hiking boots 🥾 and dog 🐕 and come and stomp. Now is the season for purple heather, sweet smelling gorse and watching the ferns turn autumnal.

Days out, location scouting for future guests. A good excuse to finally visit and try the most sublime blackcurrant cheesecake (as featured on .lestrange insta post yesterday!). If not for the kitchen garden inspiration, then certainly worth a visit for the food itself.

The owners have lovingly restored the enormous Victorian glass house and transformed what was a football pitch into an abundant 2 acre growing space with fruit trees, bee hives, vegetables and herbs. The latter which will be picked fresh whilst you wait if your lunch includes a salad, and Charlane knows how to make a tremendously good salad!

They’ll also soon be launching a cosy shepherds hut so you can stay in their beautiful wild space.
