While in St. Kitts, we went scuba diving for the first time in a LONG time! I don't think we've been diving together since we got engaged and that's been almost 3 years ago. It was incredible to see all the amazing wildlife here!

Stepping back in time in Santo Domingo’s Colonial Zone! 🇩🇴

Exploring the cobblestone streets, vibrant buildings, and historical sites was like diving into the heart of the Dominican Republic’s rich history. The rustic, dramatic walled ruins of the San Francisco Monastery occupy large blocks of the Colonial City. It’s the perfect photo backdrop and serves as a reminder of the former, first-ever 16th-century Franciscan monastery in the New World. It went through several disasters, including a fire caused by Sir Francis Drake, and a couple of earthquakes, before it was eventually used as a mental asylum until the middle of the 20th century. Our 2nd cruising season has come to a bittersweet end. January 1st we left West Palm with a fun crew on board to go to Bimini and dive with hammerhead sharks. We spent the next couple of months in the Bahamas exploring places we hadn’t visited the year before. The northern Exumas were some of our favorite stops. Diving the famous Thunderball Grotto, diving in the clear blue water, and getting up close and personal with the nurse sharks of Compass Cay. We left the Bahamas in late April to make a 600NM to the Dominican Republic where we spent an entire month. We can’t say enough good things about the DR as we absolutely loved it there! The people, the landscapes, and there's so much to see and do! From the DR, we started down the “thorny path” beating into the wind to get down the Caribbean chain of islands. We didn’t spend a lot of time in any of these islands as we needed to keep moving south to get to Grenada by July 1. We’re super excited for next season as we will work our way back up the Caribbean chain to spend more time at each island and the people who call them home.

We Tried Hog Hunting with Dogs In The BAHAMAS! Over the last year, we’ve sailed over 7,000 nautical miles on our sailboat. This has led us to many amazing places and allowed us to meet many people and experience their way of life.

Today we’re in Andros, one of the few islands of the Bahamas we’ve yet to visit. Andros is the biggest island but one of the least populated. However, there is one thing that runs wild here, feral hogs. Hog hunting is a way of life for people who live in Andros. So today, we’re doing as the locals do and going hog hunting in Andros.

Ever wonder what can you get for $100.00 in Bimini, Bahamas? Today we have set out to take on the challenge and we're exploring Bimini, Bahamas with ONLY $100!

Bimini is located in the westernmost district of the Bahamas and is comprised of two main islands — North Bimini and South Bimini plus numerous cays. Renowned for its close proximity to the United States, being just 50 miles east of Miami, Florida, Bimini is often considered a convenient getaway destination.

In the 20th century, Bimini gained fame for its big-game fishing, attracting notable figures like Ernest Hemingway in the 1930s. Hemingway spent several seasons in Bimini, pursuing marlin and tuna and finding inspiration for his works such as "The Old Man and the Sea" and "Islands in the Stream."

Bimini's infrastructure has been developed to support tourism but it maintains the charm of a small island community. The transportation within the island primarily relies on small boats, golf carts, and bicycles, underscoring the laid-back lifestyle that defines the Bimini experience.

While sailing into St. Kitts we were escorted in by some really fascinating locals. They even took advantage of our boat as we helped to push some flying fish up on top of the water. These Brown B***y birds were so cool to watch as they flew feet from our boat while hunting their next meal.

It was hard to film them at times as these birds are like fighter jets in the sky with swift aerial maneuvers, the minute they saw prey, they would turn and fold in their large wings and dive bomb into the water with a very impressive success rate. They loved flying right in front of our boat because it would scare up the flying fish and they were right there to grab them.

We could have watched these guys for hours but after about 30 minutes they left with full stomachs.

Recently, we spent time in St. Vincent where we went out on a catch and cook for crayfish. In making a local soup, we had to harvest a taro plant, known locally as Dachin.

Have you ever heard of this plant before?
