I forgot to post this! I painted this some time last year. It’s on Arches Hot Pressed paper - not my first foray into HP but my first “attempt” at a painting. I’ve since painted on HP again and had better results but I’m slowly starting to learn how best to use HP paper. It’s harder than CP (in my opinion) but it has its advantages over CP paper and I hope to get better at using it!

Not sure why I gave her the Ciri look but oh well!
A long awaited piece. It didn’t take long to paint but I did it in stops and starts because of my hand.
I’m pretty pleased with this piece, especially considering what paper I used! I’m getting used to it and I am starting to like it. I think this kind of paper (CP 25% cotton) works well with light colours but terrible for dark colours. So if I’m planning paintings for the future, I have to consider the colour palette and whether this paper will be good for it.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy it!

I mentioned in my stories that I both love and hate this paper I’m working on. Someone asked me (thank you for DMing me! Hopefully I can expand on my answer!) about what paper it was.
I honestly forgot what paper I used but after checking it’s the Winsor and Newton watercolour paper (CP but only 25% cotton, so I’m assuming the rest is cellulose???). At first, I didn’t like it. While it says cold pressed it’s not cold pressed in my eyes!! But the part I don’t much like is probably the 25% cotton. I’m used to 100% and I can definitely feel the difference. However! I have realized this paper provides a nice texture which I quite like. It’s only with light colours though. It’s terrible for dark colours (for me at least). I think it’s very similar to Canson’s Montval CP paper - and just checking, is 100% cellulose! Well whadya know!
This is why paper is important my friends! And trying it for yourself is important - find what’s good for you.

💫Scroll down for DTIYS and ARTIST SUPPORT info!
So, I know most artists wait until they reach a milestone before announcing a DTIYS. I’ve been stuck at my current number for the longest time, who knows when I’ll reach my next “milestone”. And I’ve already vented my feelings on IG and their ridiculous changes and how we are all slaves to the “algorithm”. It’s mentally taxing, draining and exhausting.
So (excuse my mini rant!) here is a DTIYS that I want to do for no reason other than to see how you all interpret my Blue Moonlight piece.
🌙 Use and tag me so I can see it!
🌙 Any medium is fine (no AI - I’m sick of it!)
🌙 Put my image on the last slide of you post
🌙 No deadline - I’ll share as many entries until the end of April in my stories.
ALSO, I’d like to use this opportunity to do an ARTIST SUPPORT. So please comment below. Where you’re from, what’s your fave food and what kind of art you do! Share whatever you like! Also, if you have any friend artists who deserve some recognition, please tag them and I’ll do my best to have a look at their stuff.
Good luck and have fun!

Blue Moonlight - coming up with this title was quite easy and that doesn’t happen with me! This was a spur of the moment piece and provided a little break from my bigger piece I am painting.
I’m also considering making this a DTIYS…more on that later!

With all this detail you’d think it’s finished! I’ve done a lot but I’ve still got a ways to go! I knew this would take a while. Even when I don’t feel like it, I try to do a little each time I can. And I think it’s important for me to take some time away from it and do something else. You might see a few more smaller projects done before this is complete but so far I’m happy with the progress! I hope you are too! Also, sorry for taking so long!😅

I would adjust the colours on the images but doing so would end up making them pixelated. I’ll try not to complain (even though the urge is just so great!!) but get your act together IG!
I’m trying to remember to take pics at certain intervals throughout my painting. So far I’ve remembered well! The thing I like about watercolours is that you need to build up the colours. Patience is important and I’ve also learned to do that 😋

Something different. I’m taking a little break from my big piece to satisfy my urge to create! So I’m painting something real quick that came to mind. Using dark blues are always pretty difficult to control so I need to take it lightly! Plus this is quite the experimental piece. Let’s see how I do…🤞

Sorry for this sudden announcement but Etsy forced my hand. In a nutshell, Etsy is forcing sellers (in certain countries) to enroll in their payment scheme and you are forced to sign up to Payoneer. Would be fine if Payoneer didn’t have this ridiculous fee charge whereby if you don’t use your account for a year you have to pay $30 AND if you don’t have at least $2k in your account you get charged. They leave me no choice but to close my account. I may put it on vacation (or leave it suspended) for the time being until Payoneer becomes a viable option (I highly doubt it will though).
I’ll be moving my stuff over to Ko-Fi where I’ll be able to continue using PayPal. It’ll take some time so please bear with me. Please don’t be dissuaded. I hear Ko-Fi has been pretty good to small artists selling goods.
I’m sorry for the bombshell but this is the last straw with Etsy. It’s been on shaky grounds for a few years and I was wondering whether to jump ship. That time has come.
Thank you to all those who have purchased from my shop before and who left lovely reviews. I’m hoping I can continue to offer my art stuff over on Ko-Fi or another online shop very soon. Wombats will also be available there too!

Slowly laying on the colours for the skin. That is the nature of watercolors. The skin is the most difficult and time consuming part because (especially for lighter skin tones), you have to do it slowly or you’ll end up with something you didn’t intend (sometimes it may surprise you with something nice and different but most of the time it won’t!). It’s easier to build up shades and tones than removing it. I’m still learning but I’m gaining more confidence as I go.

Snaps of progress (which I’ll try to focus more on this year!). Despite my initial nervousness to start, I’m pleased with its progress. I need the occasional pep-talk and push to continue but so far I’m happy. I’m pushing to see what I can do and working on things that I love.
Let me know if you like seeing posts of my process. Do you like seeing the whole piece in stages or would you like to see some closeups of particular areas that I’m working on?

Here it is! I love ‘s challenges. Their designs are always so cool and interesting! I also loved these colours and I’ve been painting with lots of blues, so I thought why not! I hope you like it!

I pretty much have a week left before I’m unable to do any painting! Can I complete it before then…?

Well it’s been a moment, hasn’t it! I don’t know why I haven’t posted in a while (outside of my stories), I was “doing” things but nothing really to show. I’m prepping for my trip back to the UK for Christmas and I have a tonne of things that need to be done before then. Plus work and life!
Anyway, this is probably going to be my last piece of the year. I couldn’t help myself! has been creating such incredible art and when this came along I kinda had to…

My version of ‘s DTIYS. I had a lot of fun with this one. I don’t usually paint with blues and blacks. And since I was painting with Black and Red before this was a nice change!
I suggest that if you are feeling like you’re stuck with your art, try a different colour palette. Use colours you don’t often use. It might be challenging, and you may fail but you’ll definitely learn something and it’ll be refreshing! Everything you do will contribute to your art knowledge and skills. Just remember to enjoy the process.
Thank you for listening to my TED talk.

I remembered to take pictures! Another “special” piece with a “special” purpose. It’s also winter themed. I haven’t done one of those for a long time!
Are you looking forward to winter?

Working on DTIYS that I wanted to do waaaay before but my to-do list got longer and longer.
I’ve been working with black paint (or specifically Pane’s Gray) for a while now. It’s still a difficult colour to manage but this is a great way for me to practice using it.
Anyway, I hope you’re having a fabulous weekend!

And here it is! I was a little busy the past couple days but I managed to finally add the final details. I’ve painted with a lot of black recently! May need to go pink next…😉

Oh what’s this! I stealth painted an original piece. Actually, it wasn’t so stealth if you had been looking at my stories. I haven’t posted any progress pics or videos because I have special plans for this painting! It’ll take a bit of time to fulfill this plan but there is a plan. For now, here it is!

Sale is now on! It’s a little early for Christmas but I think many of you would want to start your shopping before the big rush.
I also have a couple of new items. And hopefully in the next few weeks I’ll be adding (drop shop) Giclee prints of some of my artwork.
Also, consider adding in a wombat sticker to your purchase. Any wombat sticker bought, those proceeds will go towards a charity that I’ll be donating to at the end of the year. They’re only between a $1 to $3 and it’s going to a great cause!

Happy Halloween! It’s a day early but I want to have Halloween stuff done before the end of the month so here’s my annual Halloween gal.
I was open to name suggestions for my OC. I’m still deciding but I think I’ll call the cat Alfie. I have a friend who has a rescue cat (aka the black void) and when we chat she often puts the we**am on the cat. Even though he doesn’t do much, he’s just so darn cute! One day I’ll meet Alfie…

My October piece is done! I’m pleased with parts and not so much with others…I may touch up the dress digitally to smooth it out a little - I dare not paint over it! And painting with dark colours is haaaaaaaard…I do enjoy it though. Still thinking of a title but probably going along the lines of Skull Garden or something.
I still have my annual Halloween piece in the works. That’ll hopefully be complete by next week. Stay tuned!

I couldn’t help myself! But don’t worry, I have nearly finished one of my October pieces and the other one is already part way through. This DTIYS was in the back of my mind and I kept seeing other artists’ versions. I finally caved and did it! I don’t think I got the colors spot on but it’s fiiiiiiine.

Working on my October piece. I’m always conflicted about this stage. It’s exciting to start a new piece but it always looks sooooo rough when blocking in the colours. It’s just a mess! This is around the time when I start losing faith in my abilities!😭
When do you usually falter? At the beginning before you start painting? In the middle, like me! Or near the end when adding in final details? Or throughout the entire painting process!?😅

DTIYS time! I had completed this earlier but didn’t have time to post. So here it is!
This came out great and I did it very quickly! That’s amazing! Traditional art can take so long to finish (it is what it is!) so I’m sometimes reluctant to start new pieces when I have other pieces or things to do. With this, I was able to sketch it down one day and start painting the majority of it within the next day or so. And I probably spent another day just adding in details. That’s super fast for me!
Anyway, enough of my rambling. I hope you like it !

So having wrapped up Sketchtember, I want to show off what I did and give my insights on the challenge.
I had a lot of fun. I think this worked out much better than Inktober and I’d be up for doing this again over Inktober (although Inktober was fun, I will need to adjust what I do so it’s manageable!).
I could’ve done one theme for each day of September but doing 30 sketches over 30 days is almost impossible for me. I have a life and work and there is no way I can keep up with that demanding schedule. That would make it stressful and less fun! What would be the point?
Allowing myself to do it whenever I had a free moment, I actually looked forward to sketching something. Sketches are far less time consuming and I could at least find some time in the week to sketch (plus film!). I also enjoyed the randomness of the themes.
I didn’t know what I’d be drawing until right up to the minute of sketching! I gave myself a moment to think of something but it was all done at the same time.
This is a great exercise to practice if you feel yourself in an art-rut. Just pick a random theme and just see what your sketches produce.
Anywho, moving onto October. I won’t be partaking in Inktober but I will have a “macabre” themed art piece plus my annual Halloween piece that I’ve dedicated to doing for no reason other than to compare my yearly progress.
Let me know whether you took part in Sketchtember and/or whether you’ll be taking part in Inktober!

Woooooow. I don’t know why this took forever to finish. I suppose work got in the way but I could’ve finished it way earlier. Just needed that final push! It happens.
But I’m pleased with the results. I could’ve painted this on Arches paper and MAYBE I could get better results (brighter colours etc) but anyway.
I’m thinking of doing another similar painting. Maybe making a trio on the “nature” theme. What do you think? Let me know! I’m open to ideas!

I have finally completed it. I just needed that last push to work on details and I could see the end in sight! Incidentally, this has been great practice for my October piece which will have similar colours. So I’m looking forward to using this colour combination again.

Here’s a question, what’s your favorite colour combination? While I do like Red and Black, I haven’t really used them in my paintings until now. Green and pink has been a current fave of mine but I love blue and purple. Let me know what yours is in the comments! I’d love to hear them.

Layering on the skin. I don’t usually work on one part before moving onto the next, but I often start on the skin and slowly build the shadows. I’ll probably add in some cool shades to add some depth but for now the skin and face is done. Hair is probably next. Let’s gooooo!

Couldn’t and probably won’t be getting much painting done this week. Work and personal life getting in the way! But I managed to do some painting over the weekend. As you can see, I’m on a green/blue pink colour scheme roll!
