Today we want to tell you the story of a very important person for our school. Giovanni Bosco, better known as Don Bosco. A mentor in the formation and education of our young students and others.
The event that led Don Bosco to embark on the path to the priesthood is particular: at the age of nine he had a premonitory dream in which, in front of a group of boys who were blaspheming, a noble man appeared to him and suggested that he should have approached the boys with a charitable spirit.
Don Bosco is known as one of the social saints because of his closeness to the young people who lived in conditions of hardship in the city of Turin. Young people, often destined to die of hunger or to experience labour abuses or poor conditions in juvenile prisons. There are many actions that the priest took: for example, the Salesian oratory, but also the work contracts for young people and the first workshops for young prisoners and non-prisoners to teach them a trade to get themselves out from a condition of social marginality.

We are happy to share with you the meeting that took place on Saturday between the headmaster, the teachers, the Kigali Peer Evaluation Team and parents. There were many topics of discussion, all aimed at a shared construction of the present and future of our young students. The excellent results presented by the evaluation team demonstrate how the TVET School in Gatenga offers its students quality education and experiences, providing them with entrepreneurial skills that make them competitive in the national and international job market.
Together today for building a prosperous tomorrow.

Where is Don Bosco TVET School located?
Our school is located in Gatenga in Kicukiro Discrict, in the south-east of the city of Kigali. On a land of about 26 hectares, the Salesian community opens its doors, offering the population not only, as we have seen, the TVET school, but also a chapel, a pre-noviciate training school, a youth centre (the Oratory), administrative offices and the Job Service Office.
In line with the Salesian spirit, in this place young people find space to grow, becoming protagonists in their lives and in their community.

The rapid technological changes demand that workers continuously update their knowledge and skills.
TVET enables that flexibility providing broad based technical knowledge and transversal skills on which different occupation can be based on. The school offers its students vocational training in various sectors - plumbing, masonary, electronics, electrician, culinary arts, carpentry, welding - through teaching that combines theory and practice both in the classroom and in local companies, in the form of internships and study trips.
Glad to share this training organised by Don Bosco Tech Africa for our teaching staff.
We never stop learning!📝
Welcome to Don Bosco Gatenga TVET!😉
