During the prehistorical era, the now-Sichuan Basin was occupied by ancient civilization โShu (ๅค่๏ผโthat left 2 major sites within Chengduโ Sanxingdui(ไธๆๅ ) & Jinsha๏ผ้ๆฒ๏ผ.
Recent archeological discoveries at Jinsha found 3000-years-old Sichuan peppercorn used for spiritual rituals as offerings to the deities.
It was seen as a rare and luxurious ingredient that only the Shamans and royalites have accesses.
Sichuan peppercorn was not used for food seasoning till much much later in Chinese history.
