I think I’m biased, but Saturday’s Juneteenth event was spectacular! I had an amazing time speaking on the Education panel! Every panel, including our educational panel discussion, brought together diverse change-makers to share resources and support for our youth, communities, and families.

Can’t thank the two visionaries, Barbara Deer and Commissioner Dennis Deer, for creating a welcoming space that sparked connection, growth, and collaboration.

It was a reminder that before any program, initiative, policy is decided upon, ensure that you get feedback from all who may be involved in the process—the institution, community partners, and even the individuals who receive the support! Transparency moment: In all the busyness of yesterday, I forgot to wish a "Happy Father's Day" to all the fathers, father figures, and mentors in my life and the lives of countless others. Forgive me... your presence and your role in all the lives you've touched is beyond loved and appreciated!

Today’s 3rd Annual event was truly a celebration of black joy, collaboration, and community!

From the amazing businesses sharing their creative genius, nonstop family fun, and purchasers of our books and journals— today was so worthwhile!

So glad this revolution was televised….can’t wait to return in year 4!

We will be selling our books, journals, and t-shirts at this amazing Celebration for the whole family TOMORROW! Hope to see you and a friend there!

Networking, learned some new things, and met a couple of educators doing big things along the way! Small Business Expo

Elated to have facilitated a month-long adult social emotional learning experience at one school and a celebratory reflection at another!

Educators reflected, collaborated, challenged each other, celebrated their big and small wins, and applied new techniques to begin their summer and the upcoming school year successfully!

The celebrations are continuing and giving a HUGE round of applause with smiles galore to the principals, school leaders, and school staff that put in the work for these outcomes to happen!

June 15, 2024 from 11am-2pm CST is filled with family fun, food, entertainment, workshops, and lots of vendors celebrating Black Joy!

June 22, 2024 from 8am-4pm is a full day JuneTeenth celebration: health breakfast (8:00-10:00 am), a justice panel discussion (10-11 am), a wealth panel (11-12 ), lunch bingo (12-1:30 pm), an education panel (1:00-2:00), and a youth competition (2-3), a blood drive, and of course the resource fair. County Care redetermination will take place along with a multitude of additional resources for all ages!

Attending La Casa Norte’s 8th Annual Education Luncheon was a deeply moving experience, as it showcased an organization’s unwavering dedication to fostering the success of youth facing homelessness.

It was a testament to the power of unwavering advocacy and support, as twelve remarkable young individuals received scholarships to confidently embark on their next educational journey and guidance to support them on their journey! Another win for La Casa Norte and a double win for youth pursuing their dreams!

On this , can’t help but celebrate the power of unity! I’m so grateful for organizations and individuals who prioritize and advocate for the needs of others.

Yesterday’s Working Lunch was a testament to what can be achieved when we work together towards a common goal. They’ve made huge strides towards equal pay, access, and paid time off for women, and it’s all thanks to collective efforts! If that doesn’t speak freedom in doing what it takes to meet the needs of others for this , I don’t know what does!

Being in that room was truly liberating, and I can only imagine the amazing things we can accomplish when we push past any limitations and collaborate to effectively bring change in our educational communities too!

Hope this and beyond we continue to advocate for ourselves and others, just like this organization did, on purpose and in purpose!

Together, we did it!

For the past 12 weeks, these young Junior D.I.V.A.s in our mentoring program worked through their differences, began to advocate for themselves and others, and became more agency driven collaborative leaders!

It couldn’t have happened without the non stop collaboration, consistent teamwork, and unique strengths of these talented adults. Whether it was the creation of the program, sharing their unique experiences as an elementary school student, or teaching these Junior D.I.V.A.s how to speak life into all things, their teamwork and diverse perspectives helped our mentees grow and thrive.

Forever grateful for EVERYONE who collectively made it a success and excited to see even more schools that create the space, like this one, for our students to shine!
