Twenty-two years ago, four savvy, smart, accomplished women met and talked about the lack of respect, opportunities, and connections for women in finance and how they might enhance the ability for women to connect with each other and work more effectively – and Michigan Women in Finance was born!
Carol Walters - initiated the Women’s Caring Program in 1995, a successful statewide nonprofit providing scholarships to pre-school children from low income families. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Detroit Land Bank Authority and as President of the Walters Family Foundation. Her financial acumen and experience has benefited many non-profit organizations over the years through her service on their Boards.
Suzanne Shank - President and CEO, and a co-founder of Siebert Williams Shank & Co., LLC, a full-service investment banking firm. She serves as an active underwriter of publicly traded equity, investment grade corporate debt, and municipal debt offerings. Her company holds the distinction of being the top ranked minority- and women-owned investment banking firm in the country.
Sarah Ward Eubanks - a former Managing Director at Standard & Poor's, is an independent consultant in the greater Chicago area. She also enjoys time with her family at her home in East Lansing. Her daughter, Rachael Eubanks, serves as the Treasurer for the State of Michigan and is a former President of Michigan Women in Finance.
Catherine McClary - Washtenaw County Treasurer since 1997, oversees the receipting and accounting of a billion dollars each year and manages the County’s investment portfolio of $275 million. By State law, County Treasurers are mandated to foreclose for non-payment of real property taxes. She received the GFOA Hero Award in 2021 for her tax foreclosure prevention efforts during the pandemic.
