TSCS . The school of common sense
TSCS now accepting enrollees in life. TSCS AKA the school of common sense!
Hold on. Sun is coming. Dont get ít twisted. Death is still out there. But then nobody gets out of here alive. So make the most of your time while you are here. Forgive the petty, forget the rude, ignore mean, thank the kind, love yourself! Peace comes from within and eating a good meal alone or with friends on the phone. Hey that's an idea. How about a virtual dinner party like a conference. Somebody set that up and invite the Seniors in your family. They/we could use some company for sure. I know i could. Dad is here but between sleeping and going to the bathroom he's not much company.😷
There are all kinds of advice on how to survive the virus. I don't know if my advice will make a difference, but it might. I had bronchial pneumonia twice as a child and sinuses so badi had to go to my doctor evety day after highschool in winter so i could breath into a steam machine to help me breath and open my sinuses. I wore shades due to the head aches making my eyes hurt. Fast forward to present day ventilators to help you breath. But before it gets that bad i learned two important things. 1. I am lactose intolerant. My Mother was a believer in a glass of milk at every meal to grow strong teeth and bones. Once i left home and stopped drinking milk 75% of my sinuse problems cleared up. Once i figured the problem was dairy i cut out mayonnaise, icecream and cheese. That cured the rest as well as the constipation from eating cheese on burgers and my favorite - grilled cheese sandwiches. # 2. When ever i felt a cold or a sore throat i would gargle with warm salt and baking soda. Now i use apple cider vinegar in warm water. It kills the bug if you catch it early and do it often. But along with the gargling i turn on the shower hot water and let the room fill with steam. If you have an enclosed shower all the better. Stay in the steam and warm your body while clearing your throat, nose, and lungs of mucus. Take a good hot shower and dont come out till you are completely dry and your pores have closed. Give yourself a good rub down all over. Dry your hair thoroughly and put on a cap to keep your head warm. Drink a couple of glasses of warm lemon water and do your exercises, gently. While we are staying at home dealing with the current earthly challenge. This will help you avoid causing problems for your body you dont need and help your body feel loved and appreciated. A good feeling about yourself and a good feeling inside your clean warm body will go a long way in keeping you relaxed. If you have children having them shower and change into clean underwear daily will help avoid 90% of the rashes, acne, infections and smells that plague most kids rooms.
While they are home and inside, ignore those commercials where there is crap everywhere with children running wild. Now is a great time to teach them survival skills such as washing, mopping, sweeping, cooking, vacuming, organizing their room, folding the laundry before putting it away, washing dishes, you know how to live like humans instead of that commercial where the groom was raised by wolves. They really outdid themselves with that one.😸
So if you have sinus problems, constipation or less than two bowel movements a day, or headaches and itchy skin , take one week and cut out dairy, cheese, and put everyone on chores and showers. Age appropriate chores means no knives used by children under 12 to chop, and no cooking without supervision by an adult. Any signs of respiratory problems start gargling with teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water or tsp apple cider vinegar in a glass of warm water. Then begin steaming immediately. Wear warm clothes and keep your head covered especially at night when the heat is down. Adults drink warm tea, with honey and lemon. Give kidds instant hot chocolate made with almond milk at breakfast or decaf herb tea with honey at night. Fruit drinks with more than 10 grams of sugar at night are no good. Stick to the tea or water and they will sleep better. Bathe, then eat, then bed and kids sleep better. Eat at least 2 hours b4 bed for kids and 4 hours b4 bed for adults. Yes it will not be easy to make these changes but now is a great time to start. Be safe, be kind to one another and until the next time. 🙏
Introducing advice and wisdom from the Senior community while they are still here and available for counsel. We have access to seniors as old as 104 who still know who they are and how this thing worked long ago. It helps to know how we got here and hopefully what we can do to keep moving forward.
I will be your link to our Advisory Council of Elders so check in often to see what the Elders have to say about the challenges and success of todays world.
TSCS is sponsored by People Development Systems, a division of The Methuselah Project.
Todays post regarding the current panic over supplies to sustain "sheltering in place", which is what we are all doing, the advice from the EC(Elder Council) is the purchase non perishible food such as beans, lentils, brown rices such as Basmati, Wild rice, and plain brown rice. Organic if possible, stone ground yellow corn meal, whole wheat unbleached flour/gluten free if possible, and non-aluminum baking powder so you can make hot water corn bread with or without milk and egg. Recipes will be added soon for young non-cookers who will have to learn or wind up losing weight the hard way. Food supplies are going to diminish and increase in price. Get smoked turkey and pork ( if you still eat pork) to use sparingly to season beans, & greens you can freeze after cooking. Again recipes to follow. But for now head to the stores and look on the bottom shelves for your drygoods. Prices for bottom shelves are lower. The higher up you go the higher the cost. Stay Clean. Bathe the body not just the hands. Put those children in the shower or bath tub daily and change your underwear daily, no exceptions!!!
OK. Got to go disinfect all light switches and door k***s b4 i start cooking for next week. Peace-love-& Joy
