Police in Kanengo, Lilongwe, have arrested a couple, 19-year-old Innocent Mbewe and his 15-year-old wife, in connection to the murder of a 6-year-old child, Loyce Tembo.

On 21 October, 2023, the girl's mother, Caroline Tembo reported to police that the girl had gone missing and since then, officers have been investigating the matter.

Police officers got a tip that the suspects were in Area 24 and they proceeded to arrest them.

The couple claims that some "Satanists" promised them K38 million if they killed the girl.

A 43-year-old man Samuel Kaonga is in police custody for allegedly assaulting his wife (dislocating her knee) after she allegedly denied him conjugal rights yesterday morning.

According to Nkhata-Bay police spokesperson Sergeant Kondwani James the incident happened at Yakobemapapa Village in Traditional Authority Timbiri in the district.

James says that the man went out for drinking on May 1, 2023 and came back later in the early hours of the following day and after a few hours of sleeping in his bedroom, Kaonga asked his wife for s*x but the wife denied on the grounds that their kid was still awake in the same room.

James says this did not go down well with the husband and a quarrel broke out; a fight ensued which left the wife seriously injured, disclocating her knee joint and has been referred to the district hospital for treatment.

Samuel Kaonga hails from Yakobemapapa Village in Traditional Authority Timbiri in Nkhata Bay District.

A new born baby aged about three weeks has been found today in a banana field in Katengeza Village in the area of Traditional Authority Malengachanzi in Nkhotakota district.

District Social Welfare Officer, MacDonald Mpichi , says the baby - boy, has since been admitted to Nkhotakota District Hospital, for medical attention after an observation that it was unwell.

He said his office, plans to send the baby to an orphanage , as an exercise to establish the whereabouts of its parents is underway.

Mpichi further said the matter has also been reported to police for criminal

A 25-year-old man, Davie Makayika, has been apprehended by community members of Mkawera in Thyolo on suspicion that he has killed his wife for unknown reasons.

GVH Mkawera has told Zodiak that the body of the deceased has been found covered in a heap of sand in Mayera river by some people who wanted to fetch water.

The local leader disclosed that the suspect, was restrained in the chief's house, as they wait for the police to pick him and exhume the body.

Thyolo Police deputy publicist Rabecca Kashoti says they are working to establish facts of the incident.

Police in Chiradzulu have today arrested a 34-year-old female s*x worker for allegedly poisoning to death, her 3-year-old daughter.

The district's police spokesperson Sgt. Innocent Moses, said the incident happened on Wednesday when the suspect, Victoria Ibrahim, left home for her business.

"Upon suspicions some community members reported the matter to us, and we took the body to Chiradzulu District Hospital for postmortem where results show the girl died of poisoning.
