🔷 What is Boogie Woogie for you?
🔸Freedom of self expression and opportunity to have fun and joy together with another person or group of people which is important part of social environment. We can go wild and crazy in case it feels like or stay calm and elegant if it fits the atmosphere and the music. BW includes all parts of dancing which is amazing for the personal development, such as: improvisation of all kinds, general dance techniques, figures and complicated moves, acrobatics requiring flexibility and strength. At the same time it embraces simple moves and principles. This allows all types of dancers share the floor and be welcomed together. We mainly see BW as a dance rather than kind of sport, even though we can understand why so many people find it very sportive.
🔷 How do you feel when you are on stage?
🔸We might feel nervous or stressed before stage, but after entering it, stress is getting replaced by excitement, passion and joy.
🔷 What is your main goal when you dance?
🔸When we perform the goal is to be ourselves and to invite the audience to visit our world and have as much fun as we are having while dancing. When we social dance, it is important to connect with the partner and music and to be ourselves in each dance.
🔷How do you choose your costumes?
🔸Tanya is choosing the costumes and Sondre has to adapt 😂
🔷Who/What inspires you to dance?
🔸Sondre used to be inspired by the BW competition scene of the 2007-2011, now he is taking much inspiration from the music and mainly live music, which is providing catchy energy. Hard working people are also a great example - like Jerry Lee Lewis, Freddie Mercury, Chuck Berry, Michael Jackson, Frankie Manning etc. that always believed in themself and eventuelly succeeded doing their very own thing.
Tanya has been inspired by Dabbie Raynolds, Michael Jackson, Queen, Gean Kelly etc. Now it is mainly about personal goals and joy of life that inspires to dance.
🔷When and where did you experience you best lesson/course of BW?
🔸Impossible to tell precisely, but the most remarkable experience was to teach the first time in Athens (Greece) in 2016. Never ever seen so excited and wild people!
