This week's episode is a bit of an emotional one!

I was joined by a guest to discuss the impact of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) on her quality of life. Being a functional disorder, this condition is often not taken seriously by medical professionals as there's usually no structural "abnormality" or "problem" with the patient.

However, IBS patients are far from fine. From social anxiety, to depression, debilitating gastrointestinal symptoms and even body dysmorphia, it is clear that IBS poses a huge burden to the wellbeing of patients. The goal is that more people feel comfortable talking about their symptoms, helping one another, and hopefully someday, an effective and long-lasting solution will be developed.

It's not enough to be "not racist", you have to be actively "anti-racist", and I couldn't agree more with this statement. Being racist isn't as black and white as simply hating black people or people of color. It's the hurtful stereotypes, subconscious biases, prejudice, internalized and institutionalized racism. All of these are detrimental to the well-being of POC, and it's not up to black people to educate white people. All we ask is to be treated and respected as human beings!
