This week just gets better and better!!

Tuesday I had the pleasure of speaking with students at King College Preparatory High School in Chicago, IL for their Career Conversations Series. I was able to briefly speak on what attracted me to my fields of work, Construction Engineering & Interiors

Thursday I was able to celebrate the holiday with family and extended family

Three bathrooms in various stages of completion 👀

1. Floor and shower tile are in! Next up is the toilet and vanity installation followed by the shower faucet and light fixture

2. Durock underlayment has been cut and installed, next is the waterproof membrane

3. The constructed shower pan has a waterproof membrane applied. This will dry overnight and be ready for tile the next day

Progress!!! 👀Both of these bathrooms were demoed down to the studs and are almost complete.

Second stop of the day! The carpenter is hanging family photos in this double height foyer. Large black & white photos always add great decor to a space

TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY!!!
Swipe to see how this bedroom was transformed to what I've named Spicy Slumber! This client wanted to incorporate red in the bedroom so I chose to compliment the room with red furniture. There was only one outlet in this room which was below the wall mounted tv so we added 2 near the bed and 1 near the a/c unit. Because space is limited, I chose to replace the dresser with a chest that I refinished (see previous post) plus the new platform bed includes drawers for extra storage. I also added velvet wall panels from in place of a traditional headboard, which I backlit to provide ambience

This is a chest I recently refinished for my client. She wanted to incorporate red into her bedroom and immediately I knew I wanted something more than an accent wall or bedding set. I couldn't find a red chest that fit the dimensions needed so I created one. You can refinish almost any piece of furniture with patience, quality materials and creativity! I also replaced the k***s.

Working on space planning for a few rooms. From the data gathered during a site visit I'm able to create the floor plan. Once I'm comfortable with the layout and furniture placement I create the 3D rendering

TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY!!! An office I had the pleasure of working on offers a space for both work and leisure which is perfect considering there are so many people working from home. We left the option for a wall mounted television above the accent storage cabinet.

Checkout the final design! This client specifically wanted a glitter closet and I was happy to oblige! Who doesn't luv glitter!?! The shelves originally in this closet made it awkward and wasted so much wall space so I proposed installing units that not only offered hanging space but shelves above and below. Plus the shelves can rearranged to create taller or shorter shelf space as needed. I sourced plum colored thin velvet hangers, which I swear by, because they are such a space saver!

Step 1: measure the space & provide design
Step 2: clear the space
Step 3: install glitter closet
Step 4: install closet units
Step 5: reveal to client

Let us not forget what Dr. King stood for and let us continue to fight until all people are equal. We still have work to do but included are a few people who represent Dr. King's fight for equality. We need more representation everywhere including the White House Administration and these individuals are paving a way for those that come behind them.

Back when the world was open.. sigh...I remember there being quite a few tourists that day which I'd imagine is a normal day but sometimes when I've visited historical sites it can feel cramped and overwhelming trying to position yourself just right for the perfect angle sans elbows, heads, shorts, etc. Fast forward a few years and here we are with limited interaction

Just thinking...I kind of miss my fellow tourists

MORNING!!!! It's been awhile since I've posted here. Thankfully I've been working and getting my bearings for the new year.

Taking a break from xmas decor to watch xmas movies 🎄

Working on this teen bedroom was super fun! Combining new furnishings with a refinished desk and storage unit provided a room full of different textures and patterns. Plus the sparkle of this glitter wall in the sunlight is amazing!!!!
