NOTICE TO MARINERS (CGSSDS-0524-001)

Tropical Depression 'Agon' is located 350 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur (8.3°N, 129.5°E) with maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h and gusts up to 55 km/h. It is moving west-northwestward at 30 km/h, causing slight to moderate sea conditions, particularly in Mindanao, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 2.1 meters.

Pursuant to HPCG MC Nr 03-01, Coast Guard Station Surigao del Sur is temporarily suspending voyages of all vessels and watercrafts under 15 gross tons (GT) operating within its area of responsibility (AOR). This suspension is due to the prevailing weather conditions, which have reached Beaufort scale number 4 (moderate breeze, 11-16 knots, waves 1-1.5 meters).

Voyages will resume upon improvement of weather and sea conditions. Vessels seeking shelter are permitted provided they submit a written request and no passengers or cargo are embarked.

The Philippine Coast Guard Surigao del Sur, in collaboration with the 1505th Squadron of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA), recently orchestrated a compassionate initiative to aid the fire-stricken residents of Marketsite District, Mangagoy, Surigao del Sur. Following a devastating conflagration on April 20, 2024, which tragically impacted 38 families, predominantly comprised of hardworking fisherfolk, the said units stepped forward to provide essential sustenance in the form of food packs.

This act of solidarity not only underscores the unwavering commitment of the Philippine Coast Guard and its auxiliary units to serve and protect the community but also highlights the resilience and compassion embedded within the Filipino spirit.
