This week for ✨Transformation Tuesday✨ we are highlighting an interdisciplinary case!

Patient has peg (small) upper lateral incisors. This is known as a Bolton Discrepancy. This term is used to describe a mismatch between the sizes of the upper and lower teeth causing the bite to not fit together properly.

In this case we left space around the small laterals to allow the dentist to build up the tooth with composite. This makes the teeth wider and more aesthetic.

What is Phase I Treatment?

Phase I treatment is typically started between the ages of 7-10 and is aimed to prepared the mouth for permanent teeth to emerge into healthy alignment. Phase I treatment can be done with braces or Invisalign!

An AOB is a situation where upper and lower anterior teeth are not overlapping. AOB can be either skeletal or dental in nature or a a combo of both. The major causes of AOB include digit sucking, tongue habits, airway issues and skeletal growth abnormalities.
