BIG WINDS the other day obliterated our little greenhouse. It was small but very handy for starting and growing on seedlings. Could've been worse, for sure. We are grateful for that we are safe and sound.
We are prepping beds for next planting season using the "no-dig" regenerative method focusing on soil health. Healthy soil creates biodiversity, holds carbon, retains moisture and nutrients and grows excellent plants without the need for fertilizers. We leave all roots in the ground (unless they are edible roots like carrots). We layer composted organic cow manure (from Cowsmo!) and non-pesticide treated hay. Sometimes we put cardboard down on the soil to smother stubborn weeds, then top with compost and hay. All these applied layers will break down and add to soil health.
It's been a fun season, we have learned so much and look forward to spring (after a much needed rest).
