Blooper Reel
RWD RC Drift - AZ
Some good test-n-tune yesterday at TandemRC. Thinking about ditching the Overdose rear adjustable uprights. They are the only OD parts I've been running and they do not live up to the hype.
70 durometer x-rings and laxative haha. At least the dampers won't be constipated!
Packaging is a bit tight with the rear motor transmission, but finally figured it out. Full suspension travel with no binding or rubbing.
Finally got to drive the Revol I built over a year ago that was collecting dust on the shelf. No light buckets on an unfinished body, but I sent it any way. The new TandemRC track is really nice.
It's finally cooling off in Arizona. Time to finish up this Revol that I've never even driven yet and get back to drifting.
The camera position turned out pretty well I think. Speed seems a little fast, but I'm already running DS ffff compound tires. Might have to tune some grip out of the car.

b reel 12 20 18 A few laps in each direction on the Blooper Reel V2 track. Testing out a new mounting spot for the GoPro.
I had to switch to harder rear springs from my BD7 to get it back to my non-camera ride height, but it drove surprisingly well. Hopefully the footage is decent...
I got most of the outer guard rail done, tuned the DIB a bit better, and then had an impromptu rotary meet! Definitely a good day.

Nothing but the finest engineering solutions for this "fixture." Haha.

The guard rails aren't done yet, but gotta send it any way!

Short vid of Caleb running some clean laps.

It's almost ready!
Thanks Motokazu Ando and Randy Beard for the awesome Kerbs!

Good thing we painted the whole track LAST weekend! lol

Whole new yd2 conversion kit just arrived. Fresh unboxed.

I've had a lot of wheels, but never any from RC-Art. I picked up these Professor TF1's from Kenny. Not only do they look amazing, but they are round! I've never had a set of wheels spin as true as this... EVER. Also, thanks Randy for the Finix tires!

Went to the Speed Junkies gtg at the Severed Ties show this morning, but couldn't stay long. All I got is a pic of the cars and one low-res still from a camera phone video. Still a good time though.
I finally found the license plate that Andrew from Warehouse Sliders sent me like 2 years ago! Stuck it on the ER34 and figured it was a good excuse for a photo. I still need to finish the trim, mirrors, etc...

Ok, so full disclosure... This post is going to be a bit of a long-winded rant.
One of the things that really frustrates me are these toe blocks (suspension mounts.) They are, in my opinion, the absolute worst design and yet for some reason the entire RC industry just decided to run with it.
I have big fat fingers and when I remove the two screws that attach the rear-most toe-block to the chassis, I inevitably end up sending the shims, spacers, hinge pins, and other ancillary suspension bits flying into the carpet. Seconds later swearing and tool throwing ensues.
I saw this adjustable toe block that Active Hobby offered and had the idea that by using it, I could take off just one side (corner) of the suspension without disrupting the other side. Once the part arrived though, I realized that it wasn't quite going to work. Rather than attaching the outer pieces to the center with two screws, they used one screw, and a dowel-pin sort of thing. I haven't got the slightest idea why they chose to do this other than maybe to prevent people like me from doing exactly what I was trying to do. The dowel-pin is just long enough, that you can't get it into position without removing the center portion of the toe block from the chassis (see pic below.)
I ended up making a fixture to mount the little end bits in the vise and milled off the completely unnecessary extra length so that it could be installed as I wanted.
So there it is... I bought an overpriced part that didn't even do what I needed without modification, paid to have it shipped literally around the world, and then spent a couple hours of my life altering it just to circumvent an issue that would never have been a problem if the RC industry had gone with a better suspension mount design...
..but at least I can finally remove one side at a time now to add/remove shims, change arms, or adjust wheelbase and toe.
Totally worth it.

Feels good to be drifting again
If only it was a 1.1 scale!!! That new new D.C. Two piece wheels
Had a blast this evening. Nice little asphalt parking lot session with Caleb Walter.

MST AKM knuckles... "Slim edition." 🤣

Just waiting on my axel and its drift time
Ok, I finally gave in, and got a YD2 so that I could be a cool kid like Caleb Walter. Having similar layouts should help. Thanks Ben Clinton for sending me this awesome chassis! I still have to clean up the rats-nest of wires, but at least it runs for now.
First time really driving my Carb-D yd2. Incredible happy with how well it drives. I owe a lot to Kyle for tuning this chassis. I also owe a thank you to Joey and Steve from super G for helping my get my esc tuned.
