Honoring Rosalind Franklin: the Scientist Who Saw the Double Helix First 🧬👏
Today marks the 103rd birth anniversary of English chemist and X-ray crystallographer Rosalind Franklin, whose pioneering research was central to discovering the structure of DNA.
Though her critical contributions went unrecognized for years, Franklin produced the famous Photo 51 image using X-ray diffraction, which allowed Watson, Crick and Wilkins to deduce that DNA has a double helix structure.
Franklin faced much discrimination as a woman in science in the early 20th century. Yet her meticulous research and penchant for precision led to groundbreaking insights that shaped modern genetics.
Even after her untimely death from ovarian cancer in 1958 at just 37 years old, the full extent of Franklin's contributions remained obscured by her male colleagues. But her short yet impactful career demonstrated the key role of women in STEM.

Middle east pain syndrome is a pollution-induced new disease mimicking rheumatoid arthritis
Researchers in Cairo explain that 400 patients came to hospitals in Egypt and Saudi Arabia between November 2014 to December 2019 who had previously been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis – a long-term condition that causes pain, swelling, and stiffness in the joints. After a second look at these patients, they found that they didn't quite fit the criteria for rheumatoid arthritis. They did, however, meet the diagnosis for fibromyalgia syndrome, another long-term condition that causes pain all over the body and muscle stiffness. Most peculiarly, X-rays revealed that many of the patients had spur-like growths growing on some of their bones. On top of this, the patients had notable vitamin D deficiencies.
So, what’s the link to pollution? Well, the link is convoluted and somewhat hazy, but the researchers believe it's all to do with the toxic heavy metal cadmium and vitamin D.
The Middle East has extremely high levels of vitamin D deficiency, which is surprising when you consider that the sun-drenched region has high levels of UV rays that are necessary for vitamin D3 production in humans.

About Us
How We Started
Genome It All was started to share genetic information to the world. The owner and head researcher for Genome It All had an interest in genetics for many years, researching in her spare time. She then decided to take that passion and attend college in health and genetics. She had been bed-ridden for 3 years and had gone to many doctors who diagnosed her with so many different problems, but she didn't get better. She kept researching until we finally figured out what started my decline, that is, certain SNPs that make her more prone to certain problems. Having this knowledge, she was able to make the proper changes and get her life back. "I soon grew a strong interest to learn more and I started on a protocol that was very strict, in 4 months I was working full time again. I then decided to go back to college so that I could become even more knowledgeable and continued to work full time as well."
A Natural Approach
The owner of Genome It All wanted to support a natural approach, whenever possible, for the suggestions included on the Custom Genome It All Report. She did her internship in Naturopathy, working closely with a Naturopathic Doctor. That is when she decided to start developing a genetic database to gather research findings.
