Fryer
French fries, hush puppies and chicken fingers are all made to perfection by a deep fryer. Although not as healthy as a grill, home-grade deep fryers are very popular appliances because they bring the restaurant taste to your dinner table.

Everything You Wanted to Know about Tumble Dryers
A washing machine is a standard equipment in virtually every household, while a tumble dryer still enjoys the status of a luxury item. Even though it is true that laundry can be air-dried entirely for free, this can be more complicated in a house or apartment without a balcony or terrace, or if setting up a drying rack means running an obstacle course in your apartment and promoting mould. In such cases, a tumble dryer is a godsend because it works come rain or shine. Besides, using a tumble drier has many advantages that you will undoubtedly want to avail yourself of once you become familiar with them. Energy-efficiency, practicality, the fluffiest towels, the softest bedding and beautifully scented clothes are definitely good reasons to find a place for a tumble dryer in your household. We have collected everything you need to know about these incredibly convenient appliances here, in one place, so you can finally simplify your life and watch the piles of laundry disappear.

How does a tumble dryer work?
Practically all tumble dryers operate on the same general principle. An electric motor rotates the drum filled with wet clothes, simultaneously driving the fan which circulates hot air through the drum. A heater heats the air, and a thermostat maintains the correct temperature. Water in the clothing evaporates due to circulating hot air. And what happens with this steam depends on the type of tumble dryer.

Conventional, vented tumble dryers

The most basic and also the most inexpensive tumble dryers pump out the hot, damp air from the drum directly through a flexible hose, which is usually fitted into an external vent or hung out of a window.

Condenser tumble dryers

They work by condensing the steam inside the machine with the help of outside air and turning it into water. This is collected in a removable container or tank, which is installed at the top left corner of the dryer. The tank is easily removed and can be emptied into the sink when full. A useful accessory for this type of dryer is a AutoDrain hose for condensed steam which can be connected to the drain pipe of a washing machine or sink, rendering the regular emptying of the tank unnecessary.

Condenser tumble dryers with a heat pump

These dryers operate on a closed loop system whereby the air is heated by a heat pump and dry on lower temperatures what ensure gentle care of clothes . The heat pump allows for a fast exchange of temperature: larger versions are used for heating our apartments, while others are integrated into our air-conditioner units where they effectively cool our homes. A similar device is integrated in a tumble dryer. As with conventional condenser dryers, condensed steam extracted from the laundry evaporates into a tank while the cooled air used during the drying process is recycled and reused for a new drying cycle. This means that as much as four times less energy is consumed, and heat losses are minimised. Last but not least, it is also important to know that a malfunctioning heat pump tumble dryer constitutes hazardous waste because the heat pump contains gas for transferring heat energy that is generally harmful to the environment, thus it is important that we correctly and carefully handle this appliance.

Washer dryer

The combination of a washing machine and tumble dryer in one appliance is, on the one hand, a compromise, but on the other hand, it is a superb solution if you are short on space and looking for an all-in-one laundry machine. Drying works on the same hot air circulation principle as with all the dryers, only that the washing and drying happens in the same drum and can be performed directly following the other if we select the relevant programme. With this kind of appliance, it is nearly impossible to forget to dry the laundry after washing.

Factors to Consider when Choosing the Right Kitchen Appliances for You
No kitchen is complete nowadays without state-of-the-art appliances; they are the driving force of life in the kitchen and are our biggest supporters to our cooking ventures! When selecting the perfect culinary wingmen for your kitchen, here are a few factors that you need to consider:

Functionality
You need to know what you want your appliance to do and how well you want it to do it before choosing the model that works best for your home. How important is performance to you? If you want it to just do what it says on the tin, then prioritise cost over function. If you want an appliance that performs well for longer, that performs multiple functions or is easy-to-clean, however, then it is definitely worth spending more for a high-quality model that will live up to your expectations.

When thinking of the function, don’t forget to also consider the size and how it will fit in your kitchen. This might cause you to have to look at other options that are more suitable.

Efficiency
We are all looking to save money on energy costs and to help save the environment in the process, so opting for energy-efficient appliances is always a good choice! The refrigerator has always been the prime suspect for that high energy bill, but what is great about modern appliances is that the majority of them are energy-efficient now anyway. Always look for appliances with the Energy Star label and you can be sure that you are buying high-quality appliances that perform well and save you money in the process!

Aesthetics
Of course, style is subjective, so choosing the appliances that you think look the best will be completely your choice. However, what kitchen designers are great at, is telling you what appliances will complement the design and feel of your current kitchen. No one wants to ruin their kitchen with an appliance that sticks out like a sore thumb, so consider your existing design as well as function and efficiency before settling on your appliance choice.

Most useful tip for taking care of washing machine is to wash smaller loads. Large loads can lead to early death of your washing machine. Also do not wash your huge carpets and rubber mats in the washing machine.
Wipe and clean the inside drum of the washer with damp cloth at least once a week. It would remove any kind of soapy residue, dirt , left threads from clothes etc.
Once you are finished washing and drying clothes, keep the door open to let the moisture and dampness evaporate. For more tips on washing machine maintenance read “8 tips to take care of your washing machine“

Read reviews
At the risk of sounding a little self-interested, I'd like to stress the importance of product reviews. There are a very small handful of publications, including Reviewed, that perform rigorous testing on large appliances. We see how hot, cold, wet, dry, sturdy, cheap, simple or complicated all these products are, and we share that data so you can base your decisions on real-world information.

You don't have to take our word for it as the sole source of truth, but consider what editorial reviews have to offer. You might find articles perfectly tailored to your search, like "Best French-door refrigerators under $2,000" or "Best portable dishwashers."

User reviews can also be valuable, but it's helpful to remember that satisfied customers rarely bother to leave comments. Negative comments should be taken with a grain of salt, but if you find everyone is complaining about the same aspect of a product, they're probably onto something.

Measure
Identifying the right size for your next appliance is absolutely critical. While dishwashers and ranges are mostly standardized in their dimensions, refrigerator and laundry units vary wildly. Make sure you know how much space you need to fill, and keep in mind how much space you need to leave open for airflow, electrical cables or other factors.

But it's not just the cutouts in the cabinetry you need to worry about. Remember that appliances also need to get through every door, up ever staircase, and around every corner. The delivery people may be experienced, but they're still bound by the laws of physics. So measure every passageway between the delivery truck and the final destination before you purchase.

Kitchen reno? Consider a designer
Doing a kitchen reno entirely on your own is certainly possible. There are hundreds of advice blogs and Pinterest boards to set you on the path. Big box stores like IKEA, Home Depot, and Lowes also have in-house designers that can help you create a new kitchen, though you'll be limited to just the items each store carries.

But consider a professional designer, as well. They bring objectivity and out-of-the-box solutions, which can be vital if you have an unusually shaped room or other limitations. Yes, you'll pay for their services, but it may save you money, time and a lot of hassle in the long run.
