Some interesting changes proposed here by Judge Posner.
Judge Richard Posner endorses judges appointing neutral experts in cases involving difficult technical issues, giving jurors transcripts of testimony that can be read simultaneously with the testimony, and allowing trial judges to do Internet research (as long as lawyers can contest the results).
CLC Newsletter Summer 2015
Attention California Contractors:
The CSLB is stepping up enforcement policies and procedures directed at unlicensed contractors, or contractors failing to comply with CSLB license maintenance requirements. Employees are being added to the enforcement team at the CSLB, as well as increase budget resources.
Here is a link to a recent enforcement action (used as a "spotlight") taken against a California unlicensed contractor.

cslb.ca.gov To fulfill its consumer protection mission, CSLB's Enforcement division — with the help of partnering state agencies and local law enforcement — works hard to hold accountable those contractors who harm the public through illegal business practices.
Pro Bono Challenge

Absent an express writing, the Courts can determine the existence and rights associated with an easement for real property in California.

Viewpoint: It's Time to Take California Back From the Plaintiffs Lawyers
All too often some Plaintiff's lawyers manipulate the system by initiating Complaints vague enough to survive dismissal - yet provide no real information or claim.

California seems to officially rank as "No. 1" in this practice.
