Scutigera was formed in November of 2018 in Redford, Michigan by three former music majors from Wayne State University. Band members Jake Matthews (drums), Stu Lyons (bass), and David Dunham (guitar) formed the group through a mutual interest in progressive metal music and compositional aspects such as advanced rhythmic patterns / cycles, metric overlay, and atonal patterns. PSYCH! However, you might not be hearing from Seth for a while as he focuses on more important things; like becoming a father! We are so happy and excited for Seth and Serena to become parents, we wish them nothing but the best. We'll see you in a few weeks Carter Zella!
In the meantime, the rest of the guys in the band will continue releasing updates about new music, our debut EP later this year, and other great things coming soon!

Although COVID-19 got in the way of a lot of things, 2020 was still a very productive year for us as a band. We made out debut by releasing our social media pages, recording / releasing a live-studio playthrough video of " I Am Colossus" by Meshuggah, and we recorded / released our debut single entitled "Acquiesce Construct".
There's a lot more that we planned for 2021, so stay tuned! Some things we're the most excited about is releasing our merch, playing live shows, and finishing / releasing our debut EP...

Formed in November of 2018 in Redford, Michigan by three former music majors from Wayne State University. Band members Jake Matthews (drums), Stu Lyons (bass), and David Dunham (guitar) formed the group through a mutual interest in progressive metal music and compositional aspects such as advanced rhythmic patterns / cycles, metric overlay, and atonal patterns. Although starting out by playing covers of Meshuggah songs, the band quickly began writing their own music and soon added vocalist Seth Zella to their line-up in March of 2019. The band had been relentlessly writing and rehearsing, getting ready to make their performance debut, until the COVID-19 pandemic struck the world. During the pandemic, Scutigera has continued to write new music and rehearse in preparation for when the quarantine will be lifted and performances will be allowed / safe again. Until then, the band plans on going into the studio to begin recording their debut EP, which will be released in 2021.
