Pie as... A throwing contest?!

Did you know: The first World Custard Pie Championships were held in 1967 in a small village in Kent. Two teams of four would vigorously hurl pies at one another and be awarded points for a good hit, and deducted for those they missed.

The world seems so serious at times, yet we still continue this tradition now. There is even the World Custard Pie Throwing Championship! (And the pies they use don't even have custard in them 👀)
So maybe the world isn't so serious...

Just under two weeks left to apply to our open call!

Plastic pie exhibitions are about engaging with artists from all walks of life and in all parts of their careers. All of us are individual and we think it's so beautiful!
🥧

So, let's talk about creative processes, with Katie Karcheski

"My creative process is constantly evolving! If it stays the same for everything I tend to lose interest. I experiment, I rest, I play with ideas and fail, I make a LOT of mind maps and moodboards to inspire me. Often just having the images around me for a while subconsciously influences what I do.
I make high energy work a lot of the time, I really enjoy it. But afterwards I tend to have less energy and so to avoid burn out I make smaller, low energy work. This allows the creativity to keep flowing and my brain to not start doubting me."

Applications for Cellophane Wrapper are still open! Please have a look 😁

Ingredients include two cuts of premium beef, two whole rock lobsters, rare winter black truffles, two bottles of Penfolds Grange Reserve and pastry with a 24-karat German Gold Leaf.
All for pie fanatics.... but $9,500?!

Pie as the 'coffyn of paste'

🌟FUN FACT MONDAY🌟

Pie crust used to be used as Tupperware!

Referred to as 'coffyn of paste' - rather ominous sounding 👀

The pie crust was so hard it was practically inedible, and so would be used to preserve food inside. Not the kind of buttery, flakey, melt-in-the-mouth crust that you and I are used to.
