In Memory of Scott Weber
The Northwest off-road motorcycling legend.
Tomorrow is Saturday. Time to find a Weber trail!
Time to grab your bike and a pack of zip ties and hit the trail!
"Smooth is fast...."
I (Chuck Cubine) will be carrying a can of beer in each pocket of my over-the-boot pants at the Desert 100 this year in honor of Weber. After all, he did always insist I do just that.....to stay hydrated.
For one of the contests he said we should have everyone go out in the woods and ride "freestyle" for one minute each and then score them. It was a riot! People weren't even sure what to do and they sure looked funny doing it. I could hear his big goofy laugh as clear as day on the video, over and over and over! I miss that laugh. We all miss you Weber, If you only knew how many lives you touched.
One year ago today the world lost not only a great motorcyclist but a great person. Scott was a friend to everyone he knew. He didn't even know the meaning of the word judgemental. He was always willing to help. Lots of people say they will be there for you but Scott really was. He was a man of his word and a true friend. The other day I watched a video we made of a fun day we put on when for the Stumpjumpers.
Weber and Lori Taylor at Jolly Peak, Teanaway. 2008.
What are you going to do with that zip tie!?
Look for a brief article about Scott in the Desert 100 program this year.
I was taking the zip-ties out of my waist tool kit and sewing the thing back together a couple of nights ago and who do you suppose came to mind? I miss my goofy buddy.
The memorial service was very nice. Lots of good stories and memories. Lots of family and photos from childhood on...

A MESSAGE FROM SCOTT'S SISTER ANN: PART 3
I know that Scott is with God now. I still think he was to young to go. Even if he was 90 years young I would feel the same but I understand.Thank-you so much everyone for you friendship and kindness. It means more to me then you will ever know.Love, Ann

Your support and encouragement through this makes me cry.I loved my Brother so much. I have found that all of you helped me through this by your generosity and kindness.
A MESSAGE FROM SCOTT'S SISTER ANN: PART 1
Wow. I am so thankful and truly blessed to have so many friends and people praying for me and supporting me at this time.It is so overwhelming and I can't thank-you enough for everything everyone has done.I wanted to thank everyone of you for the flowers, the thoughts, the prayers, the emails, the donations, your time, and your friendship.
Had a great time riding at the Webfoot today. It was a perfect day with lots of Weber trails, hanging out with old friends and making some new ones. Just the way Scott would have liked it!
Yes, this is the machine that, when you were flying down the trail thinking you were really cooking, Scott would pass you on from 10 yards out in the bushes, on his own new trail.
Scott said I had to write on the bottom of the trophy so I would always remember that day. I wrote these words that June day in 2001. Thanks Scott, you made a difference in so many lives. You showed us all a lot of good times!
My first race I ever entered was a Hare Scrambles and ISDE at Finney Creek. Scott and I went together. He kept telling me to ride smooth. "Smooth is fast" he said. over and over. "Go like a scalded dog for 10 minutes and then ride smooth for the rest of the race". That was good advice. I got my first trophy for 4th place in the vet am.
The Webfoot Enduro will now be an ISDE format and will be a memorial ride/race for Scott. The Skagit MC is asking people to bring photos and memories to share. It is at Walker Valley ORV park and starts at 9AM Sunday (5/23). Hope to see you all there. Chuck
There will be a memorial ride and evening bonfire at JRs in Marysville on June 12th. More details to come. I think that's exactly how Scott would have wanted it. After all, his was the only wedding reception I have ever been to where they said "bring your dirtbikes", and the BIGGEST backyard bonfire I have ever seen in my life! And Scott standing there with the garden house assuring me it was under control. Chuck
"the guy on the ratty looking bike that could kick your butt in the woods at will"
It was a long night and an early morning. I have accomplished nothing at work today but thinking about Scott and how much I'll miss him. I sit here wishing I had taken him up on his offer to work trail a couple of weeks ago. Thank you for posting your memories and photos. He was a good friend. Chuck
A few years back
He looked at David and said "how can I leave with him looking all sad like that?" When we got the bike going all the guys were gone on the mens ride so Scott said "come on, looks like it's you and me". That was my first "Weber ride". Ask anyone who has ever been on a Weber ride, there's nothing else like it. The off-road motorcycle world will miss Scott Weber. Chuck Cubine
The first time I met Scott was at a Stumpjumpers event. I was trying to get my son David's bike started and the guys were leaving for the men's ride. He waited and watched and then came over and started asking me if I had tried this or that. Pretty soon he had taken over and spent the next 45 minutes getting David's bike running. I told him he better go, the guys were leaving.
Scott Weber was a good friend. I can't begin to say how many times he offered to help me. I credit him with so many fun times. He got me excited about dirt biking and got me back into street biking (real sneaky like).
Please share your stories, memories and photos.
