14/04/2019

It's never too early to plan. I am beginning to book talks, presentations and book signings for next fall and winter. A few select dates are also still available for late summer. For those of you who might have an interest in a specific club or organization presentation, please consider one of my offerings as described below. Feel free to respond to this posting or message me directly, Thank you

Presentations by Angelo Peluso

Fly Fishing Long Island
A comprehensive inside look at the freshwater and saltwater fly fishing opportunities that exist within the waters of Long Island. The presentation includes information about tackle, techniques, methods, species, tactics and locations.

Fly Fishing Alaska
This presentation is the result of my numerous of fly fishing trips throughout the state of Alaska for all five species if Pacific salmon, rainbow trout, leopard ‘bows, Dolly varden, grayling and char. The presentation also focuses on critical trip planning issues and alternatives. As I plan my eighteenth fly fishing trip to Alaska I will share all the lessons learned to make for a successful adventure to the 49th State.
Fly Fishing the Surf
Following the format and contents of my definitive and award-winning book, Fly Fishing the Surf, this comprehensive presentation covers all aspects of wade fly fishing along the shoreline of beaches, bays and backwaters. No detail is omitted, and all aspects of this form of fishing are reviewed in a detailed and entertaining way.

Fly Fishing for Sharks
Casting large, feathered flies to apex predators like sharks is an exciting and challenging endeavor. This presentation reviews all that the angler needs to know to maximize opportunities to attract, hook and land sharks on fly fishing tackle.

Best of the Best: The Most Productive Saltwater Fly Patterns East to West
This presentation is the results of the efforts involved in writing two award-winning fly pattern books: Saltwater Flies of the Northeast; and Saltwater Flies of the Southeast and Gulf Coast. Drawing upon the research, interviews, practical experience and examination of more than 1,200 flies related to those volumes, various classes of fly patterns and specific flies have been identified as the cream of the crop. Understanding the design elements and fishing methods for those flies will help both new and seasoned anglers minimize the learning curve and achieve greater consistency of hook-ups.

For further details and availability, please message me directly. Thank you.

Part of the responsibility to preserve and protect our striped bass rests upon our shoulders. Every small action counts toward helping to create an environment that allows bass to recover and thrive. So as the 2019 season gathers momentum this spring think about catch and release as part of your overall fishing strategy. While your gesture may appear small, it can help. There is much more to do to restore healthy stocks but from where I sit...and to be brutally honest...what I hear and read about regarding current efforts is simply SOS, different decade. Too many people have too many agendas and vested interests to ever reach a meaningful and sustainable compromise. And too many folks have made careers out of peddling opinions. It's not like this is a new problem. Some among us saw this coming 15 years ago. Talk is cheap, but actions are where the rubber meets the road. And each of us can take this grass roots action upon ourselves. Doing something beats more talk and inaction. I'd hate to see another crash and moratorium but that might just be where we are headed.

Another new fly fishing season is off and running. Good numbers of schoolie bass all around the Island. Bigger ones soon to come!

I just finished reading a wonderful book: "Atlantic Salmon:Moody & Mysterious", by Jim Lorenz, published by West River Press. This well-written volume is loaded with practical tips and tactics to help all salmon anglers achieve greater on-water success. What I found especially helpful are the many references to various methods and strategies that can apply to various other angling scenarios and situations. The progression of chapters in this book builds s foundation that will lead to a much better understand of the fish and a much improved catch rate. If you want to get intimate with Atlantic Salmon then get intimate with this book first.
