IRead.europe
I-Read is a project by POV & Howest (Belgium), Kehtna (Estonia) and Conlan (Ireland). The aim is to develop a pedagogical game with a focus on reading.
We also offer teaching materials for the practice of close reading.
The students of Estonia, Belgium and Ireland tested the first version of 'The little prince'. ๐
Despite a lot of play, they also had some comments. Next, we will make the necessary adjustments! ๐ฎ

๐ง Can you solve our rebus?
๐ป The first chapter of our game is ready to be tested. Several schools in Belgium, Estonia and Ireland are working on it.
Can you guess which book our first chapter is based on?
๐ฎ Yesterday, we started the day with a preview of the game. We talked about the adaptations.
โ Then our Estonian colleagues provided an activity: ceramics. We made our own mug under the guidance of a very enthusiastic lady.
๐Later we discussed the testing of the game and had a meeting with PlayIt, our game developers.
๐ท๐ฝ๏ธ We ended the day with a fantastic five-course dinner.
๐โ๏ธToday, we took the train to Kehtna to start the first meeting of TPM4. We were enchanted by the winter wonderland.
๐After a tasty lunch, we discussed the surveys again. We embrace the wishes of our students and we consider it very important that they have a voice in the making of our game.
๐ฉ๐ฝโ๐ซ๐๐จ๐ผโ๐ซThen we got to work on creating the teacher materials. We would like to encourage teachers to implement the techniques of 'Close Reading' in their reading lessons.
We are in the midst of designing our reading game. ๐ป๐ง
What do you think an educational game needs to be successful?
Inge and Laurien attended the OMG festival in Kortrijk. It is a gaming event explaining educational games. We picked up many good ideas that we can use for our own game.
It was also great to try out new gaming techniques, such as virtual reality.
On the last day of the TPM, we created content for our game. We searched for texts translated into multiple languages. Then we drafted questions and let our imaginations run wild regarding the visualisation of the texts in our game.
After lunch, we said goodbye to our Estonian colleagues. We are already looking forward to the next meeting with each other and our game developers.
๐ป We had a meeting in the morning with Play it, our game developers. Our first text was already incorporated into the game. WOW! What a fantastic job they had already done! We are already looking forward to the sequel.
๐ธ Koen then organised a fantastic blossom walk in beautiful Borgloon. This resulted in very beautiful photos.

Today was the first day of TPM3. After breakfast, we discussed the results of the various surveys. We will take these conclusions to our game. After lunch, Koen arranged an interactive game for us on the Alden Biesen estate. Using film clips and texts, we had to solve the invented murder mystery of Alden Biesen. It was fun! After this, we went back to work. We chose different texts that we will integrate into our game. Tomorrow we will have a meeting with the game developers. We are very much looking forward to the preview of 'iRead: The adventure'.
But today, the Estonian partners are using their passports to spend a few days in beautiful Alden Biesen. ๐ง๐ช
The next TPM starts tomorrow. Follow our page to find out the news and decisions regarding our game. Would you also like to travel with us to the blossoms of Alden Biesen? Then follow our stories. ๐ธ

You can choose between the countries of our partners: Estonia, Ireland or Belgium.
Throw๐ to the last day
On the last day, we reflected on our TPM in Estonia. We reviewed whether we achieved all the goals for this meeting. Check!
Finally, we took a nice walk in the swamp a few kilometers from Kehtna.
Throw๐ @ Day 2 of the amazing TPM !
We were given a tour of the school
It was nice to see how schools from different countries also have different teaching methods. ๐ง๐ผโ๐ซ
After this, we went back to work. We discussed the content of our game and finalized the survey for students. We also briefly reiterated the principles of close reading, which will be covered in our app and our lesson preparations. ๐๐ฎ
During the afternoon, we were treated to a delicious multi-course dinner. Completely prepared by the students of Kehtnakhk. ๐ง๐ผโ๐ณ
Throw๐ to our TPM @ Estonia.
At the first meeting we discussed the subjects of the TPM. We also welcomed our new partner: Ireland! ๐ฎ๐ช
We ended the day in a nice restaurant and slept tight at the hostel of Kehtna.
