Hi, my name is Lorena, and I am writing on behalf of Gabriela Rivas, my elementary school friend. She’s 41 years old, and mother of two beautiful young children, Roman and Romy, ages 10 and 11.

Last year in June 2022, she was diagnosed with uterus cancer. A woman so young and full of life, eager to see her children grow old, and grow old next to her husband, Celso, who has been a tremendous emotional support to her and a rock in the lives of their children.
Gabriela has always been an extrovert, a force, hard-working, and the joy to any room she enters.

After her diagnosis, her medical history got complicated, and fear took over. Who wouldn’t? Especially, as a mother, who wouldn’t? Since the beginning, Gabriela has undergone several surgeries, which included the removal of ovaries, uterus, fallopian tubes, appendix, and inguinal lymph nodes. As of today, June 2023, she still needs to undergo brachytherapy, which is an internal radiation therapy. And today, more than ever, she needs our helping hands.

Her husband and family have been doing everything possible to fight this battle with her, yet their finances have been a major stress.

As you can imagine, there’s only so much one can do in Ecuador, a country where the economy, public health insurance, and hourly rate are not the best.

As a result of their battle, at the end of 2022, the family felt forced to close the doors of their restaurant, their main source of income, as they were not longer able to pay their employees, nor Gabriela was able to be in front of the business as she’s always been.

While her husband and family are fully devoted to Gabriela’s recovery, the hospital and many other bills keep coming as their debt keeps increasing. Therefore, I’m appealing to your good generous heart so that TOGETHER, we can make a difference in Gabriela’s life.

I pray with all my heart that we can bless their family abundantly.

The money will be used to keep paying for medical treatment and other bills that any regular family like yours or mine would have.
