World Tourism and Travel Council predicts that Pakistan’s tourism industry has the potential to grow to around US$ 39.8 billion within a decade. The present government has already vowed in its election campaign that it would promote Pakistan as “Asia’s Best Kept Secret” in global tourism market.
The government is confident that tourism would be contributing Rs.1 trillion to Pakistan economy by 2025. Countries like Switzerland, Thailand, Philippines, Maldives and Sri Lanka demonstrate that sustainable tourism is a tool for development.
A quarterly magazine, Fascinating Pakistan was launched in London to promote the country’s local and international tourism.
As per details, the first-ever tourism-centric magazine, comprised of 72 pages, was launched in Pakistan as well by Strings Media, a London-based tourism company under its digital campaign–‘Come, Fall in Love – Pakistan’.
Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Fascinating Pakistan Tahawur Husain Jafri said fascinating Pakistan magazine truly presented a marvelous story of beautiful Pakistan and its amazing people, cultures, heritage as well as amazing pictures.
He said, “We are delighted and fascinated that after all the team’s hard work ‘Fascinating Pakistan’ is officially launched in Pakistan and London.” The magazine would become a treasure trove for avid readers and passionate Pakistanis alike, Tahawur Husain Jafri
He said the digital tourism campaign was the first of its kind as it focused on projecting multiple features of its tourism including religion, leisure, adventure and others.
The CEO said efforts were underway to uphold tourism gems of Pakistan in London by holding road-shows, displaying northern areas scenic views on billboards and setting up portals to attract the British folks to add the country in their travel list.
From the wonders and beauty of the Himalayas regions in the North to the historic Sindh in the South and the lovely beaches of Balochistan, Pakistan is truly the heaven on earth, Tahawar remarked.
Highlighting the private sector’s role in tourism promotion, Syed Qamar Abbas, who is also a member of the National Tourism Coordination Board Member, appreciated the government for providing a breathing space to the private sector to fully tap the tourism potential of the country.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan had said Pakistan’s soft image can only be portrayed through the promotion of tourism, which would not only generate revenue but also provide employment opportunities.
Presiding over a meeting of the National Coordination Committee on Tourism in Islamabad, the prime minister said that Pakistan is blessed with different climatic zones and numerous untapped tourist spots.
He said the government is focused on eco-tourism to ensure environmental conservation while managing tourist spots.
The prime minister said the federal government would provide all possible facilitation to the provincial governments for the development and promotion of the tourism sector in the country.
