I just wanted to send you a thank you for being part of my community. When I started this Patreon I wasn't sure what I wanted to fully do with it, and I'm thankful for the space it is becoming.
I think we can all agree that the world feels a little too overwhelming right now. News happens so quickly, and our bodies are taking on so many emotions without us fully acknowledging them. That brings to me to my point. I've decided to make this Patreon my safe space. The space to go to when things start to feel like life is caving in around you. The space that reminds you that you aren't doing this alone. A space you can process the emotions of our daily lives. This new chapter will include encouraging notes from me throughout the month, and a fun series focusing on different emotions.
I hope you're as excited about this as I am, because the world still has so much good. Lets collectively take the time away from the noise and root into our yoga practice.

Every season has its own juggling act. Take time each day for you. Even if it’s noticing your breath while you’re driving, or grounding your feet while you’re in the yard with family. Find your balance. 🤟🏼

The thing I repeat the most in class is easily “notice how you feel”. It is so easy to ignore what our bodies are telling us. We are conditioned to ignore and push away our feelings. Take some time daily and just check-in with your body. Notice how you feel. Listen to what you need. Not every yoga journey looks the same. There can be a lot of suggestions on which way to take, but at the end of the day, you know what’s best for your body. Trust your process ✌🏼
We can let shame and guilt guide us through our days; “I shouldn’t eat that” or “I should take the stairs instead of the elevator”. What if you took guilt or shame out of the equation when it came to your yoga practice? What if you adjusted your internal conversation that guilts you for not doing yoga that day, and acknowledge that yoga doesn’t have to look the same every day. You can practice on and off your mat. You can connect with your breath wherever you are, and you can check in with how your body is feeling throughout the day. Bring kindness and compassion to yourself each day, and let go of the guilt/shame that judges you if you don’t get on your yoga mat every single day. 🤟🏼
Confessions from a yoga teacher: I don’t get on my yoga mat everyday and that’s okay. I’m telling you this because it’s easy to mentally beat ourselves up when we think we “should” be doing it all. We constantly have people online telling us the fix to every problem lies in doing MORE, when in reality, doing what you can looks different each day. Shaming yourself into doing is the opposite of helpful. Be gentle with yourself. There is so much happening in our lives and each day might require something different of you. Each day we can do the best we have and that is enough ✌🏼

When Sherman was a puppy, I encouraged him to sit on my lap when I was on the floor. Seven years later, I still reap the benefits 😂 The point is, you don’t have to have a quiet and perfect place in your home to practice yoga. You can have your home participate with you, and let that add to your practice. 🤟🏼✌🏼

I will be teaching at Barker Central School through their Community Ed classes, which start Jan. 18th! The classes will be created with every body in mind, so if you’re new to yoga, or your been practicing for years, everyone will have a place on the mat. This gentle reminder as we head into the holiday season. Thinking we can control situations is an illusion, but we can control how we show up emotionally during those situations.
