I’m looking to take on a semi skilled mechanic to help repair and maintain primarily trailers and the odd truck/ bus. The ideal person would have some experience working on trailers repairing brakes and suspension components, MUST have their own tools (specialist tools will be provided), being able to MIG weld would be a huge advantage though training would be given to the right person. an actual interest in the job is a must. Would consider taking someone on with no HGV experience (car mechanic) providing they’re eager to learn. Driving license is essential. Wages will depend hugely on the applicants ability but the right person with the right work ethic will be well paid.

Transit Custom timing belt replacement today, the belts run in oil on these engines (wet belt) and if not changed at the proper interval the belt degrades leaving fragments of rubber in the sump that inevitably end up clogging the oil pick up. Sump was removed on this one to clean all the debris and clean out the oil pump pickup to avoid possible oil starvation.

Called out to a non starting Mercedes 814 mini bus this morning, found corroded terminals and a broken wire on the starter motor. New heavy duty terminal crimped on and all connections cleaned up and she’s away 🚐💨

Mercedes Atego with a bent connecting rod sorted, engine seems to have sucked water through the intake and hydraulic locked cylinder 1 bending the rod.

Called to look at a Peugeot 308 with “Low oil pressure” warning on the dash. After some investigation found the timing belt was breaking up and had blocked the oil pick up in the sump. Clean pick up, replace timing belt kit and it’s good to go 👌🏼

ABS fault on a Montracon trailer equipped with Haldex Gen3 modulator, diagnostics showed fault with suspension pressure sensor which is part of the modulator valve and cannot be replaced without fitting a complete valve at £1300, fortunately it’s possible to fit an external pressure sensor if you have the right software to change the valve parameters so that’s what was done here saving the customer £1200 on a new modulator.
