Yesterday, I got the opportunity to attend an awesome event supporting local Houston artists. Don’t let the word “local” fool you, though. Some of these creative folks have bragging rights that stretch far beyond the city such as being tapped to design for events at New York’s Fashion Week and recognition from the White House.
The hubby and I really enjoyed ourselves at the grand opening of Gallery Skye. A huge congratulations to both Robyn Crowell and Amy Cummins for kicking off a business with such an important mission for the community.
Thank you for the invite. Alpa is one of the best children’s drawing instructors I have on staff at Young Rembrandts SW Houston. Not only does she teach art, but she also creates beautiful pieces, such as the one you see in between us here.
The title of the piece: Sunspots. Before leaving for the night, I was able to snag this lovely piece to bless our home.
It’s a for me. This is one of my all time favorite paintings. A candid shot of Mr. G. What captivated me was the effect of the light and shadow, often called the chiaroscuro effect. Titled ‘Man in the mirror’.
Work on 11x14 inch paper in oil.
Yay! Just got this in, my painting selected to be a part of the Glassell exhibition. I’ve come a long way to see this happening. Still grounded and working hard.
Once in a while I do scribble art. 2020 was the year I did plenty of these to improve on my figurative skills. Last night I got my pencil and paper out and sketched this picture off of my phone. I particularly enjoy these exercises once in awhile just so to loosen up and also there’s no pressure of any kind. Just plain crazy lines bumping into each other.
Waiting for the layers to dry. Got too excited to post this one. Cold wax and oil on acid free paper.
I’m sure there’s a place like this somewhere on earth.
