We recently completed this exciting project. The old access to the West River was causing erosion and water quality issues, as well as being hazardous for foot traffic. The stone path that was built many years ago served its purpose well for a long time, but ultimately Mother Nature had her say. A rain garden was constructed to catch storm water from the surrounding paved area. Another retention area was installed at the intersection of Rt 30. Infiltration stairs were built to catch any water that made it’s way to the river access area. The steps (40 of them) also now provide a safe and convenient access to the area below the bridge. Agencies involved in the project….
