The ‘Borradh Nua’ project came about though a desire to celebrate not only indigenous Irish crafts, but the crafts and clothing of the many different cultures that exist within Ireland, for .
The clothing, crafts, team and contributors in the Borradh Nua project come from a variety of different backgrounds, joined by a common thread of creativity and our connection to Ireland. ☘️

Sculptural willow basket hand crafted by artist and basket maker Hanna’s work is deeply inspired by the creative, feminine, nourishing and healing values of nature. She creates organic, flowing, natural shapes from willow grown and harvested by herself.

The ‘Wren Boys’ or ‘Straw Boys’ dressed in masks, fancy dress and straw suits to parade through Irish towns and villages on the day after Christmas, St. Stephen’s Day.
They would sometimes carry a live wren (bird) to join in their music and songs, asking for donations at each doorway as they made their way dancing from house to house, and pub to pub.
