Flowers have been painted and I'm now applying the underpainting of the butterflies. I may add a few other flowers to the composition! 🦋🦋🦋

With the final Lunar Eclipse of this Eclipse Season, I thought I’d share progress photos of lunar-inspired works that feature a new process, oxidized silver leaf on cradle panel.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Image 1) blocking in composition - start with an underpainting to define the shapes that I see emerging from the background from the markings made during the oxidation process. It’s like searching for shapes in the clouds when you were a kid.
Image 2 -4) underpainting - underpainting is complete, so happy with the composition, and excited about where this is going. These pieces are back on the table and ready for the next step!

Here’s a sneak peak at a few studies I’ve been working on that are lunar inspired. I wasn’t going to share just yet, but in light of the Super Blue Moon, I couldn’t resist. I hope you were able to see it last night! Although we will have a Blue Moon in 2026, you’ll have to wait until 2037 before the next Super Blue Moon 🌕

New piece just completed! This piece is from a new group of fractured canvases I created. Makes media on fabric with genuine silver leaf using an oxidized process.

New things happening in the studio over the past few months. Still working on the construction of my wall easel, but excited to hang this small wood cradle and try it out. This piece is part of a new series of oxidized silver leaf on wood panels in the works

Just completed these silver leaf fragments, unframed. Zoom in to see the fractured canvas and frayed edges that I create before gilding the surface and painting these chinoiserie inspired cherry blossom branches. Two pairs are still available for purchase.

Each piece is approximately 8.75”h x 6.5”w. Size may vary slightly since each piece is hand cut by yours truly 🙌

My therapy! Working on some new pieces in genuine silver leaf. It’s so rewarding to finally get to the gilding process on these wood cradle panels. I’ve been preparing these for over 6 weeks with several layers of oil ground and drying time between coats.
