You just got your Synthetic Dreads, looking good, feeling even better when...
Your Dreads started to slip down after not even two weeks?! Don't panic, it might happen and for next install, just try to avoid the points below 😉

There might be a couple causes to this, most common are🤔
- a conditioner was used before installing the Dreads which makes the hair smoother and more likely to slip 🫧
- Synthetic Dreads have been wet/ washed too often = they get heavy and slip down easier. Do not wash them too often, once a week is great 👍
- your hair is too short and it's not enough hold for the Dreadlocks. So if you are not sure your Dreads are secured properly, use an extra elastic 🩹
- you chose heavy or smooth Dreads which are more likely to slip down. Our Renate's Locks of Love are a bit stiffer and lightweight so they stay in better 😏
- your sections are too big so the strands of hair you braid the Dreadlocks in are thicker. Therefore the hold on the Dreadlock is less and slipping is more likely. You can learn all about good sectioning in one of our courses 😉

So if any of the above applied, try avoiding it next time you install your Synthetic Dreadlocks and if you'd like to take part in one of our courses to learn the proper installation process, let us know and we'll give you more info! 🤎

New Real Dreads? How do you care for them?

Let me tell you 😉
Essentially the first 6 months is the crucial time for your new Dreads and the time where you establish a good care routine. During that time they are the most vulnerable and as they mature, they become stronger. 🙌

1. Do not wet or wash them for the first 2 to 3 weeks. After that we recommend once a week wash but it's a personal choice in the end
2. Palm rolling everyday for the first two months. After that continue to palm roll 1-2 times a week and once the Dreadlocks have matured, and became more compact you can palm roll less
3. Use a Tightening Gel or Spray to help lock the Dreads
4. Switch up updo's and decorations on your fresh Dreads! Otherwise if they stay in the same position/ spot too long it might create weak spots ...

Comfortable sleep and beautiful Real or Synthetic Dreads after waking up... how❓

With a good protection! We spend on average around 6-8 hours sleeping a day. During that time we move a lot, the Dreadlocks get a lot of friction from the pillows and that can result in frizziness and bad looking Dreads. So it is important to give them as good care as we can during the night. But Night Caps can be... uncomfortable. So what is the alternative? 🤔

Satin Pillowcases! It just happens we have introduced Satin Pillowcases to Dreadshops' assortment last year and having been sleeping on them ourselves... Highly recommend! 🙌
