Selfie Sunday... Is that a thing?
Photographers: do you take self portraits on a regular basis? If not, put it on your 2023 bucket list!
Not only do you learn a TON about posing and lighting your clients, but you'll slowly build a tiny library of photos that you are *actually in* (anyone else out there hide behind the camera and have zero proof they went on vacation with the family???)
Set up a timer, use a trigger app, do what you've got to do and get in front of the camera 😁
Finished my first month of this year's 365 and I love it! Some of the tiniest moments can become our favorite memories ❤️
Moody light ❤️
Avast! A kitty-cat pirate sailed to my corner of the globe today with her tail- wagging scalawags ♥️
We finally got to the car wash!! The rainbow soap is our favorite part 🤩
Do you take your camera everywhere, or does it sit on a shelf waiting for clients to call? Today, I want to encourage you to throw it in a bag and document your days!
I'm just documenting my days, and it looks like I've been on a nature photography kick since the new year 😆 I suppose that means I've been slowing down, which is a good thing ❤️
Winter in Oklahoma means beautiful skies and rich tones.
Sometimes we need to go out and look for the beauty around us.

A chrysalis is such a beautiful reminder of so many truths.
The waiting.
The dark.
The uncomfortable squeeze of life.
They all work together to transform us.
This photo popped up in my memories today with this caption:
"My favorite photos of our family are the ones that tell a story my heart can only interpret using it’s memory."
That's what draws me to documentary photography. It's not the images in and of themselves, it's the flood of memories that come with them.
What are your 2023 photography goals?

My 2022 Top Nine...
I'd love to see yours!!
I love that I see lots of blues, movement and deep tones in these images ❤️
I can't wait to see how my photography evolves in 2023!
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas this weekend!
Before and after
Photography IS art ❤️

Do you have any special holiday traditions? Remember to photograph them! Life moves so quickly. Those memories are priceless ❤️
We really enjoyed our county Christmas parade in Broken Bow last night. The fog rolled in and made for such a beautiful glow!
Don't be afraid of low light... It can be absolutely magical!
The McCurtain County Christmas Parade was fun last night!
I just love having the Christmas tree by a window because of that beautiful bokeh reflection!

Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Young! What a beautiful wedding this was. So full of love and laughter! Here's a sneak peek 🥰
T + S | A Wedding Story It's such an honor to walk through milestones with my clients! I've been photographing this beautiful bride's family for years. I remember Tyesia's senior photos at the lake... and then, when she and Stephen found each other, I was blessed to get to create their engagement photos. What a privilege,....
The past week has been a blur!
See what I did there? 😁
I just love using ICM for weddings, parties, concerts and events! When coupled with a flash, you can get some fun, energetic snapshots on the dance floor. Without the flash you get some sweet artistic shots like this one ❤️
I can't wait to get this gallery's sneak peek up on the blog for you all!

Here's your reminder to print your photos! There's something magical about holding a photograph in your hands ❤️

Who am I, and what am I doing here? Let me introduce myself!
Hi, I'm Kristi.
I've been a photographer for a long time and decided to start a blog because I love to write and I enjoy teaching.
If you're interested in my story, it's all right here:
The Sawmiller's Wife | My Story As a young adult, I enjoyed taking pictures, but had no idea what I was doing. I used those clunky, little disposable film cameras- you know, the ones you'd stick in the bag at the drugstore and send off to be developed? There was nothing quite like the joy (and disappointment, at times!) of...
What is ICM? It's a fun technique that can add movement and texture to your next photo project! Read all about it on the blog:
What is ICM?? What in the world is ICM? It's a valid question! ICM stands for In Camera Movement. It's the intentional use of physical camera movement by a photographer to create a sense of movement, highlight a focal point, or to create an abstract image. It's a fun way to change things up a bit, and once you na...
