Tyson and Joiner met more than 35 years ago in Joiner’s hometown of Washington, D.C. and have traveled the country living and working in the restaurant industry. The pull of family brought them to Tyson’s hometown of Winston-Salem, where they eventually opened Sweet Potatoes on Trade Street in the heart of the Arts District. They outgrew the space and moved to their current location in 2017.
