Do you know about the “Summer Slide?”
Summer vacation is a time of rest and relaxation we all look forward to. However, it can also put a pause on learning and cause what’s known as the “summer slide”— the loss of academic skills while school is out of session. In fact, research shows some students can lose up to three months of reading achievement over the summer!
Studies show when children read consistently over the summer they can actually make reading gains.
This summer, all students at PGS are invited to get CRAZY with their reading! Have fun with reading this summer - read a joke book, videotape yourself reading, or even read in the bathtub! Check off as many fun ways to read as you can this summer and share photos of your wild reading with PGS on Facebook or Twitter. Return this form to school in September for fun prizes!
Join Ms. Reusch at 9:00 for a Last Day of School Story!
