K Johnston Jewelry
Little Wild Jewelry, handmade from silver and stone.
K Johnston Jewelry was born in a tiny basement studio with the goal of making high quality and unique jewelry handmade from silver and stones, with an emphasis on design and craftsmanship. My current line of jewelry, entitled Little Wild Jewelry, focuses on representing the flora and fauna of the American west, with whimsical design and a little bit of magic.
Come find me this weekend for the Wild Earth Market in SLC!
Fresh off the jeweler's bench, pronghorn antelope skull, sagebrush, and Utah variscite.
Sorry, not sorry, I can't stop making tiny animal skulls, I hope that's okay.
I should have some weird new things (and some cute new things) to offer you on the 14th!
It feels so good to be back at the bench and in my creative groove, although my inspiration is all over the place, so you can expect the next update to be a little bit of everything!
I don't have a date nailed down yet, but it will be sometime mid October.
Only a few days left to get cool jewelry for outrageously cheap!
And then the sh0p will be closed for most of September.
I have pretty much always been obsessed with wild roses. Ancient European pagans associated the wild rose with the five pointed star as a symbol for femininity. They also represent survival, vitality, and protection.
Get ready for lots of roses, swords, and shields in my next collection.
I'll have them ready in the next couple weeks, for anyone who needs new battle armor.
One week until !
Cramming in all the last minute studio time I can before I pack it up and head south!
is two weeks away! I'm working hard to stock up on all your favorites, so of course I'll have these little dino studs!
They are also made to order in my shop and one of my all time best selling designs.
So excited to see my Wild Earth family soon!
Some new treasures just hit the shop!
This will be my last shop update until July as I start stocking up for the Wild Earth and Summery markets in June!
I hope you'll check it out.
I keep feeling drawn to shield motifs, and it's no wonder when I think about what's going on in the world. My shields are talismans of protection, and I want to keep you safe.
This raven skull shield ring will be in my update this Friday, I hope it will get a chance to make someone feel safe.
I foraged some fresh pine rings for my next shop update!
I'm thinking it will be Friday, May 6th, to give me time to eke out a few more things.
This is my last update until probably July, so if you have any requests, tell ne now!
These raven skull studs sold pretty quickly in my last update, so I never shared them! They were pretty fun to make, should I include another pair in my next update?
Aspen rings are making a comeback in my next shop update, which will be in the first week of May. I'm going to make this update a big one, since it will be my last one before market season starts! Next up on the bench will be a batch of tourmaline pine rings, so if you want to see a specific size, drop it down below ⬇️
Everything is turning green! I think it's time for me to dig through my variscite stash again for inspiration.
This variscite maidenhair fern lariat necklace has been in the shop for a little while! The subtle veins of green in the variscite are a little hard to capture, but I think it adds to the delicate elegance of this piece.
If I use it as a photo prop, then buying a dagger is a business expense! Pretty sure I have to keep a pair of these dagger earrings for myself, good thing I made two!
I'm waiting for the next bout of inspiration to strike, so is there anything specific you'd like to see in my next update?
Pine trees symbolize peace, wisdom, and longevity in many cultures, which I think makes it an appropriate adornment for a protection amulet.
It's also just a cool necklace for people who like trees.
Battle axe earrings. That's it, that's the post.
Did you know that I send out an email newsletter before every shop update? It's a good way to stay informed if you are not reliably seeing my posts. You also get a lil discount code for signing up! Find the sign up link at the bottom of my website.
Sagebrush shield ring, coming to the shop this Sunday! I'll just have one (size 7.5) in this update, but if there is interest in more sizes, drop them below and I'll try and make a few for the next batch!
The Shield and Bone collection is now live on my website! I'm so proud of every piece in this collection, I hope you will check it out!
It's hard to pick favorites from this update, because I really love how everything came out! But this sage shield necklace is up there.
Keep a look out this Friday for what I'm calling the Shield and Bone collection!
I originally sketched this design about a year ago, but didn't really know how to execute it, so it stayed in the confines of my sketchbook. Sometimes when my inspiration feels a little stuck, I flip back through the pages, and if I'm lucky, I'll see an old sketch with a new perspective and spark an idea.
That's the story of this steller's jay in a juniper bough necklace.
Look for it in my shop update on the 25th!
I took these coyote mandible earring for a test drive and immediately crossed paths with a coyote at my local park. (Swipe to see how nicely she posed for me!)
I'm not saying that these earrings are blessed with coyote magic, but I'm also not saying they weren't...
I'm on a roll in the studio and I should have a decent sized shop update for sometime next week! Lots of bones and shields, because that's what I'm into right now.
Since I cant finish anything right now, might as well start a hundred new things!
I am grateful for this creative burst, even though all my ideas seem to be a strange blend of sagebrush, animal bones, and medieval weaponry (one of these things is not like the other?).
The replacement parts for my flex shaft are finally on the way, and I might even manage a shop update by the end of the month!
This raven is still one of my favorite pieces, and one that I'm surprised has stayed with me for so long. The night quartz is very sparkly, and this necklace is on sale! Take a look if it strikes your fancy.
I know I originally said I would do this pinecone signet ring as a limited run, but surprise surprise, I love it, so it's sticking around!
I'm enjoying seeing how my work has evolved over the years, and I'm really excited about the direction I'm heading in. I don't think I'll ever be able to give up on my high peaks rings, but I think my made to order offerings will be changing more with my style.
Like a flightless bird on a wide-winged hope
Cradled by the dawn
The afterglow, a mothers' love
A deer trail in the snow
(Matthew and the Atlas)
I am still without a flex shaft, and while I am perfectly capable of sanding and polishing by hand, it takes longer, which makes my prices go up. So I'm not really sure what to do with myself, which is frustrating because I want to work! Anyway, here is a cuff I made two years ago and I would love it to find a home. Its heavily discounted!
I have so many ideas rattling around in my head right now, and I had hoped to have some new things to show off by now. Alas, my flex shaft is broken and all I can do is wait for the replacement parts to arrive, which looks like it's going to take a while.
I realized that I never shared these tiny adorable acorn studs, which are currently in the shop! Along with some tiny adorable mushrooms!
My life is a mess!
It's the part of winter where I start looking forward to spring, so here's a throwback. Also, these earrings are one of those things that the longer they stay in the shop, the greater chance that I will end up keeping them for myself.
After taking a holiday break, that turned into a two week sick break, that turned into a how-do-I-do-this-again break, I finally made something at the bench. Dendritic agate with a snowy owl silhouette and tracks. Size 9.
Dm to claim, otherwise it will be added to the website soon.
Oh hey! Dont mind me, just spam posting about custom orders until Instagram stops hiding my posts! Here are some fun customs I've made over the years. If you are interested in placing a custom order, send an email to [email protected] or hit the contact link in my profile!
