“Create a new normal with a nutrient-dense lifestyle” is our ultimate goal with The Best Keto. When we found healthy-keto a few years ago, we often compared it to our old lifestyle. We found ourselves constantly reminiscing on unhealthy foods and wishing that maybe one day the unhealthy foods would be acceptable again. It’s as if we always had a foot in the door of our past instead of embracing our new healthy lifestyle. This way of thinking was extremely draining and eventually resulted in giving up and eating unhealthy foods again.

How can we make this sustainable? Well, this year we’ve focused on creating a “new normal” and recognizing that our healthy decisions are permanent and not something that will go away. It is NORMAL now to eat salads every day, it is NORMAL now to think of keto desserts instead of unhealthy sweets, it is NORMAL now to completely forget that bread exists. Every healthy choice that we make is an opportunity to create our new normal for the future. We don’t obsess over the past anymore! This way of thinking has been an absolute game changer for sustainability! We’re so grateful for our NEW NORMAL!

Hey, it’s Allie!! 💕 Guess what?! I have the BIGGEST sweet tooth 😬🍫🍦 I’m obsessed with desserts and dark chocolate!! This obsession was initially one of the most difficult things I faced when I cut sugar out of my diet. BUT... earlier this year I discovered !! Their products have satisfied alllll of my chocolate cravings! Since it’s Halloween this week, I wanted to share my favorite keto “candy” with you!! 🎉 In the process of creating my “new normal” with healthy keto foods, I quickly realized that I needed a healthier alternative to my previous go-to chocolate snacks. Lily’s products are sweetened with stevia, so I get an amazing sweet flavor without the inflammation 😍 My personal favorite are the dark chocolate covered peanuts!! lol 😂 no but seriously, I need to give a lot of love to for making incredible drinks! I mentioned in a previous post and I received a lot of messages about them. Zevia is a zero-calorie soda with ZERO sugar and ZERO artificial sweeteners. Their flavors come from REAL ingredients and they are sweetened with Non-GMO stevia leaf extract! Their stevia leaf extract is extra special because they managed to eliminate any potential bitterness that can come from stevia. I love having a soda that is safe to drink and sooo refreshing!

My favorite flavors: GINGER ROOT BEER, DR. ZEVIA, COLA, GINGER ALE, GRAPEFRUIT CITRUS, hahaha honestly.. ALL OF THE FLAVORS ARE AMAZING! Their energy drinks are also super tasty and I’ve only been able to find them on Amazon.

We have a winner! Everything is GREEN! 🥗 This zippy and fresh salad is an absolute mouth-fiesta! If you love Mexican-inspired food, you’re in for a real treat! It all begins with a beautiful bed of greens featuring an additional 5-greens layer on top with grilled pork and Cotija cheese! The 5-greens layer consists of: cucumber, green pepper, avocado, green onion & cilantro all tossed with fresh lime and sea salt! We served it with the habanero ranch from ! This salad is AMAZING and VERY EASY to make!

When I first started my ketogenic lifestyle, one of the hardest parts was finding new recipes! 🙈 I could no longer fall back on most of my go-to recipes, so it was a little overwhelming and I felt like I was starting over! Luckily, over the past couple of years, tons of keto cookbooks have been released (an absolute game changer)! It’s so nice to have go-to cookbooks that offer great recipes that are all keto-friendly! 🎉 Here’s one of my FAVORITE cookbooks; it’s called “Simply Keto” by Suzanne Ryan of . I’ve made dozens of recipes from this book and I’ve yet to be disappointed! Her brownies are hands down the BEST I’ve ever tried. You have to make them! These brownies are now a staple in our home and are great for any occasion! 😍

INGREDIENTS:
3/4 cup blanched almond flour
1/2 cup confectioners
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder
3 oz cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 large eggs, beaten
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 cup stevia sweetened chocolate chips (we use )
Confectioners Swerve sweetener for dusting (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Spray an 8-inch square baking pan with nonstick cooking spray
2. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients and whisk to blend.
3. Add the cream cheese, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla. Mix until well blended. Fold in the chocolate chips.
4. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 35-40 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool.
5. Dust with sweetener, if desired, then cut into 2 inch squares. Enjoy!

Words cannot adequately express the deliciousness of this salad (haha, so dramatic 😆). We’re so proud of this Thai-inspired salad! Seriously, you NEED to try this one. The dressing and peanut sauce make the chicken satay go round and round. When we first tried out this recipe, we had every intention of using coconut milk. We accidentally grabbed a can of coconut cream instead; it turned out to be a fabulous mistake!

This recipe definitely has a few extra steps, but it’s worth it. Absolutely, 1,000% worth it. 😋

Hi, my name is Tylan and I “was” a soda addict. I easily drank 4 to 5 cups (54oz each) per day. I remember the very first week that I quit drinking soda; it was an emotional rollercoaster to say the least. Allie and I were visiting Las Vegas and I was so angry when I realized that I wasn’t going to stop and get a Diet Coke from my favorite gas station. I LITERALLY CRIED (you guys, I cried) and threw a tantrum like a little child. My emotions were so real, I felt like I was never going to be happy again. Nothing could replace my soda (so I thought).

I quit drinking soda when I finally studied the reasons WHY it was terrible for me. Haha, believe me, I didn’t want to Google it. However, after I learned about the 3 chemicals that made up my lovely friend, aspartame, I immediately stopped drinking soda. I want to share what I learned because it literally SAVED MY LIFE.

My body amazes me. It’s so resilient! I’m emotional (again) thinking about how I damaged my body for years and years but it still showed up for me! I’m so grateful. I have new habits that have replaced my addiction to soda! Here they are:

HABIT #1 - ICE WATER: I love going to the gas station! I love the feeling of listening to music and driving down the road with an ice cold drink. It’s ALL about the experience. Since I’ve quit drinking soda, I still go to my favorite gas station every day to get an ice cold cup of water! It completely satisfies my soul!

HABIT #2 - ZEVIA: Oh, by gosh, by golly this saved me. I’m so grateful to the incredible folks at for making a soda that’s safe! I still have those “at-the-lake” moments where I JUST WANT A SODA, and totally does the trick. I love them so so so so so so so so so so so much.

I’ve discovered that studying the “WHY” for everything in life is one of the secrets to making consistent and everlasting change. The moment I knew WHY soda was bad for me, I changed. I haven’t looked back. Phew! Life would’ve been VERY different had I not studied the WHY. -Tylan

Our slurping is out of control! This soup (every single bite) does not get old! Thank you to the dozens of requests for the recipe because we got to make the soup again and again! We love a hearty soup that warms our soul, fill us up and satisfies our sweet, baby ketones for hours. We love how the fennel seeds add such a unique flavor and how the cauliflower successfully replaces potatoes! It’s amazing!

This recipe is inspired by and we made it keto-friendly and made a couple of tweaks. The full recipe is on our blog!

Ingredients:
1 tbsp olive oil
1 lb ground turkey
1 lb mild Italian sausage
Sea salt & freshly ground pepper
1 tbsp Italian seasoning
1 tsp fennel seeds
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp dried basil
1 large yellow onion
1 bell pepper (we used an orange one)
4 celery stalks, diced
4 fresh garlic cloves, minced
7 cups chicken bone stock, or broth
1 14.5 oz can of coconut milk
2 tbsps almond flour
1 head of cauliflower, chopped into florets
2 cups chopped fresh spinach leaves
4 slices nitrate-free bacon, cooked and crumbled, as topping (optional)
Chopped green onions, as topping (optional)

Instructions:
1. Heat oil in a large dutch oven or stock pot over medium-high heat then add in your ground meat, Italian seasonings, fennel seeds, and fresh minced garlic
2. Sprinkle with sea salt and pepper and cook, breaking the meat with a wooden spoon, until cooked through
3. Stir in onion, bell pepper, and celery then continue to cook for another 4 minutes, stirring occasionally
4. Pour in chicken broth, bring soup to a boil, then reduce the heat to simmer
5. Add in the cauliflower and simmer until fork-tender, about 10 minutes
6. Meanwhile, in a large jar whisk milk and flour until well combined
7. Pour the milk/flour mixture into the soup and continue to simmer for a few more minutes until it begins to thicken
8. Add in the spinach and stir until just wilted
9. Taste test and adjust seasonings if desired
10. Ladle the soup into bowls and sprinkle with crumbled bacon, green onions and freshly ground black pepper

“UGH you’re so lucky! You can eat whatever you want and you stay so skinny!” I was told this my entire life. I grew up in a food-loving household and have always had a passion for cooking (and eating) 😆. I honestly DID eat whatever I wanted and I basically stayed the same size and weight due to what I was told was my “fast metabolism”. I always wondered why I could eat cake and ice cream and “not be affected”, while others would gain weight. Was I really just lucky?

About 3 years ago, my husband Tylan expressed to me that he wanted to make a lifestyle change to get healthy and lose some weight. He set up an appointment with a health coach and I decided to go with him as moral support. I had ZERO idea that that meeting would change MY life.

As I sat in the room and listened, I was introduced to the ketogenic lifestyle for the first time. I learned what really happens to the body when carbs and sugar (AKA my primary diet at the time) are consumed. I never understood the true damage certain foods had on the body until that day.

In that moment it hit me- just because I was thin on the outside did NOT mean I was exempt from what I had just learned. I realized that getting healthy was not just for those who wanted to lose weight. I learned that what I chose to eat DID have an effect on me- I wasn’t just lucky. My body deserved more and I immediately had the desire to change. I started my ketogenic journey that day and I can honestly say that my life has never been the same.

Fast forward to now, through trial and error I’ve developed a sustainable and healthy ketogenic lifestyle that has absolutely transformed my health. For me, this lifestyle has never been about weight loss. I choose to fuel my body with nutrients for energy. My mind is clear. My hormones are balanced. My acne is better. My mood has improved. This lifestyle is SO much more than a diet! I’ve developed so much gratitude for my body and I’ve become an absolute healthy keto NERD! 🤓 I’m so excited to keep sharing how I live the The Best Keto life & how I do intermittent fasting! 💪🏼🥗💕 I love you all!

It’s here! This is the exact salad that kicked off our salad week! It feels like our first child, lol! We LOVE LOVE LOVE this one. This salad has convinced many friends and family members that eating salad every day is COOL and REWARDING!

We start again with a gorgeous bed of greens (spring mix) and then simply add: colorful cherry tomatoes, raspberries (not too many), avocado, candied pecans ( brown sugar), grilled chicken thighs and feta cheese. We pair it with a poppyseed dressing from !

We definitely focus on eliminating all sugars with The Best Keto, but we’ve been able to stay in ketosis even with a few berries and tomatoes. We just take it easy! Also, the organic chicken thighs give us tons energy because of the extra fat to assist in ketone production. We have found that this exact salad is the perfect balance of nutrients we need to fuel our bodies, feel energized and succeed with our intermittent fasts the next day!

My clothes don’t fit anymore! Losing 50+ pounds (I haven’t weighed myself in a month, lol) has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. Side note: getting healthy first with The Best Keto and intermittent fasting was even better than losing weight. I’ll explain myself in a minute.

I never thought I’d live to experience ENJOYMENT when getting dressed. It used to be emotionally draining to get dressed. My waistband would buckle over, my shirt would accentuate my muffin-top (still working on it, haha) and my pants just never quite fit the way I wanted them to. I was honestly so uncomfortable that I couldn’t sit still or focus on anything important. I had the heebie-jeebies so bad, especially during church (heaven knows my white shirt got tighter every week). My poor health was getting in the way of everything in my life!

Like I mentioned above, GETTING HEALTHY FIRST was way better than losing weight. Little did I know that The Best Keto and intermittent fasting would correct my systemic candidiasis and chronic sinusitis. I suffered for YEARS! It’s a miracle that I no longer suffer with those conditions. A. Complete. Miracle.

Let’s jump to today! Now I can confidently get dressed and use my belt five holes in (I’ll have you know). The massive improvement in my health has recalibrated my goals and I’m back to focusing on the most important things in my life. I’m happy, I’m fulfilled and I’m determined to keep going! I realized that my health is truly the centerpiece to achieving everything in life!
