We have an urgent need for volunteers to go to Freeport, TX (just south of Houston) to pick up a few travel trailers for Eastern KY flood survivors! A charity has donated some much needed travel trailers to us – all we have to do is go and get them. The trailers must be picked up between Tuesday and Thursday of next week for this first batch of trailers. The trailers require a normal hitch (not a fifth wheel) and a ¾- or one-ton truck to pull them. They are all 30-38 ft long. A gas card will be provided to those that drive to pick them up (details are still being worked out). Volunteer drivers will need proof of insurance that covers trailering, a valid drivers license, and at least a ¾ ton truck.
We want to ensure all the Long-Term Disaster Recovery Groups have an opportunity to use these campers for their folks in need from the flood. We already have some families identified in each flood-affected county to receive the trailers in this first run. If we are able to pick up some of these trailers now, we will have an opportunity to get some more a month or so from now!
If you or someone you know can definitely help us out, please contact Chris Moeller via email at [email protected] with a name and phone number so we can work out the details.
Happy Thanksgiving! Thanks for watching!
This is such a sweet story by Amanda Hara from our sister station in Knoxville.

Trooper Daniel’s located this world war 2 era Army uniform on KY-476 close to Robinson elementary. The uniform had a life jacket stuffed inside of it. It obviously means a lot to the owner that took the time to try to save it. We would love to locate the owner of this uniform, if you know who this belongs to, please contact us at Post 13, Hazard. 606-435-6069.
We’re so incredibly thankful for all our volunteers—one group drove over 500 miles from Georgia to help us clean houses. If you still want to volunteer today or tomorrow, come to the Forum before noon!
Wear boots, long pants, and bring a water and some lunch! Thank you all!
One week ago this morning, many people were waking up to absolute devastation. They had lost their homes, their sense of normalcy, some even lost their lives. But as Eastern Kentuckians do, we pulled ourselves up by our bootstraps and made the best of an awful situation. So much has already been done and there is so much more to do. Keep being . https://www.wymt.com/floodrelief/
