The Irish have a saying, “Don’t let the truth ruin a good story.” Even if the tales about my father were lightly dusted with exaggeration, he was still a badass. He was a staunch Union man who worked for The Teamsters and Local 510 Sign Display. In his youth he surfed the coastline of Linda Mar Beach, rode motorcycles through the hills of Pacifica, and evaded the police on more then one occasion. I always thought of my father as a rebel with the needle slightly tilted towards outlaw. There are a lot of things one could call him, but to me he was just Dad. We will be celebrating him May 13th at Sharp Park Golf Course from Noon to Four and request anyone planning on attending to RSVP. Cheers to you Pops!
It’s easy to get sucked into the grind. Especially when you love what you do. Moments like these are little reminders that disconnecting from a schedule and responsibilities are not an escape, they are a way to reset. Like a cold glass of water on a hot summer day. You may have not felt thirsty, but damn, it feels good to drink. Only the water is wine grown by friends, and summer is a chilly November evening.•

A little late for a New Years post but it seems appropriate to celebrate today just the same. Change is apparent everywhere. From within ourselves, the people we hold dear, stretching to the farthest parts of the world. Cheers to a New Year and new opportunities.

Around this time last year me and were MCs for the Pescadero Arts and Fun Festival, a gathering of celebration, music, and community support. For obvious reasons this year has been cancelled, but if you look close at our faces you’ll see that we don’t really remember much from last years PAFF either....
We’ll party again soon, I promise.

Last night I witnessed cars packed with memories and tears of unknowing. Amidst the chaos I also saw neighbors helping neighbors, farmers moving other people’s livestock, and love. We’re under high alert and are ordered to prep for evacuations in Pescadero. It’s scary, but the beauty of this community towers over the smoke and red glow looming on the ridge.

One of the most proper gifts I’ve received. A good friend gave me the ortigal sketch of what is now a card sold at I swear my eye is straighter in real life.

The climb may be dangerous, you may want to turn back, but at the top it’ll all seem natural and worth the journey.

@ McDougal's Chicken
A good friend described Michigan Girl as making them fall in and out of love, and back again. Only one way to find out:

Michigan has a lot of things going for it. The Great Lakes, a $9.45 minimum wage, and now a new single with it’s name in it.
