My buddy Bob Welton - Iron on the Move has been working on some things that we’ll be releasing soon -- cuffs/bangles of different widths and textural styles 🔥
These ones are yellow brass brazed onto steel. We’ll also have hammered copper, and likely other textures of steel. They’re all 100% handmade ⚒

ScrapFest Collecton Day!!

Photos from Iron Bento's post 25/04/2018

Giving the tours this week at my family’s company, Friedland Industries, to students for their environmental sciences class! We give them every spring and fall.
We educate the students on the economics of scrap recycling, and how it needs to be done cost-effectively in order to work correctly.
We show them our facility, our museum, and of course, the sculptures on our property from ScrapFest!
The friendships I’ve made with the artists who participate in ScrapFest have played a vital role in helping Iron Bento become a thing. These sculptures are a constant reminder of that! 😊

Got to meet my DHL rep today! His name is Dalton Brosnan. He and everyone we’ve worked with at DHL have been amazing, as people, for one, and also because they’ve absolutely been essential to helping us ship our sculptures all over the world. They’re quick, reliable, and are reasonably priced. This might sound like a commercial, but it’s the truth! I highly them for international shipping!✈️ Great meeting you in person, Dalton!

Finished the logo for Prospect.io with Bob Welton - Iron on the Move, shipping soon!

15/03/2018

Hey social media land! Mike here. Both Bob and I are excited to announce a recent change!
The project we’ve built so far called Iron on the Move is now Iron Bento (http://ironbento.com).
So why the name change?
Our collaborative scrappy logo-focused efforts started when I asked Bob if he could scrap-ify my tech company friends’ logos to send to them as a thank you gifts. They liked the scrappy logos so much that they hired us to make them for their partners, which has now catapulted us into doing larger projects.
We used the name Iron on the Move because Bob has traditionally used that handle to encompass all of his artwork, so it seemed like the easiest choice at the time.
And there we began! Bob as the artist, and me handling the sales, marketing, shipping, social media, etc.
Since the beginning of this journey, we’ve also collaborated with other artists, and this whole thing has morphed into something bigger, which can leave Bob’s other works to go unnoticed, even though they are just as much of a part of Iron on the Move as the logo stuff.
So Bob will retain the name Iron on the Move to include ALL of his works. Please Please Please like and share his new page, as you will continue to see, not only the work he does for Iron Bento, but his other great works! 👉 (Bob Welton - Iron on the Move)
And we’re still working together! Only now, Bob can choose to work on the projects that best fit his style, and this will also allow Iron Bento to take on different types of projects, and include more artists.
Now, why the name Iron Bento?
For those who know me, this may seem obvious, but for those who don’t know me yet, I have a deep history with Japan, and it is very special to me. I lived there for a long time — in Lansing’s sister city, Otsu — and it became a second home to me. Much of my heart is still there.
The bento box is significant in Japanese culture. Each section stands alone, and yet all of them work together to provide a unique moment of culinary beauty.
We want to bring the world metal artwork in the same way; with an iron bento of artists, each standing alone as masters of their crafts, yet working together to provide the world with unique moments of artistic beauty.
We are very excited, and can’t wait to further help put on the map as THE place to find metal artwork.
Thank you so much to everyone for your support and engagement in our artwork! We’re glad you’re here with us throughout the journey. :)
Cheers,
Mike
