6 Degrees POP DEMO Fundraiser Day 1
Drumroll please... Meet Mr. Pops
It's that time to ask for your support in paying artists! I hope to raise $5000 for POP DEMO over the next 20 days - funds that go directly into the pockets of dancers, artists and musicians. That is $250 a day.
To make it fun, I am featuring a POP DEMO character, a concept, a quote, or a video, so that your eyes do not glaze over with "yet another ask for money." Hopefully they will inspire you to become an integral part of getting this work to the stage!
Arts & Culture Texas Magazine featured POP DEMO last week, and it was so fun sharing all the details that I will be posting tidbits from the article!
"Carlos Perez literally re-imagines himself with each costume change. Bigger than life, never the same person twice, a bad guy who at heart is a song and dance man, this role was built for Carlos." -A&C Texas, Nancy Wozny

6 Degrees premieres "POP DEMO" a live 3-D experience of contemporary dance, aerial dance, theatre, and visual projections. Through 60’s Pop Art costume designs by My Flaming Heart, lighting by Hudson Davis, and live music by George Heathco, “Pop Demo” creates the surreal world of political cartoons.
"POP DEMO" is a historical perspective of how the ideas of popular democracy, extremism, and propaganda have shaped and warped American political and cultural beliefs, ultimately attempting to overthrow democracy.
POP ART never looked so good.

Came across this oldie but goodie from Cracked in 2016 of Tyler and I performing this duet. (Tyler also did the whip solo to the sound of gunshots in Never Again.) Tyler is one of the few performers that match my intensity on stage and I have loved every moment working with him as a 6 Degrees company member.

6 Degrees is in rehearsal with a new project, "HUMAN re/con/struct/," five different choreographic voices in one house to explore the desire to bring together personalities and cultures for the common goal of redefining personal mental and physical spaces. "HUMAN re/con/struct/" poses the questions on an intimate level: "How do we create room to include all of our different needs and voices so that everyone is treated fairly, within one space? Where can individuals question themselves, give breathing space to others, and collaborate so that everyone is heard, seen, and given equal time? How can we learn to give up our own space to others? How do we examine the concepts of "otherness?"
6 Degrees explores these ideas in a physical context with five company members collaborating in one piece, one space, figuring out how to create literal "breathing room" to choreograph, dance, express ideas, so that no one person dominates the space.
