Long live the Quebec strike!

We join our voice with the Common Front of unions in Quebec, Canada, representing 420 thousand public sector workers who are fighting for their demands against the Quebec government.

The Fédération autonome de l’enseignement (FAE), which represents 40 percent of Quebec teachers, is on unlimited general strike. This strike, initiated on November 23, followed a series of escalating actions by the Common Front. These included a rally and march of 100,000 people in Montreal on September 23, a two-day strike by 80,000 healthcare workers on November 8-9, and another strike action from November 21-23 which involved all 420,000 public sector workers represented in the four-union front. The unions recently announced a 7-day strike by all workers on December 8-14, based on strike votes with an approval rate of 95 percent and more.

This important struggle that the mainstream media in Canada are methodically silencing deserves to be supported by the internationalist unions of the world.

A great Panamanian comrade left us

Yesterday Elberto Cobos, leader of the CNTP Panama, died. For many years he has served as vice president of the WFTU and a reference in the Caribbean, Central and South America, with heroic action in the war against the US imperialists in 1989.
His action became a song in the mouths of many workers in different countries. He continued the militant tradition, taking over from Marta Matamoros and Norma Cano. We send our congratulations to Africa, to our sisters and our comrades in OATUU who are gathered in their 12th Ordinary Congress which is being held in heroic Algiers. We not only love the Algiers of resistance and pride, but as well the OATUU that was founded by the initiatives of the WFTU and the unions from Algeria, Sudan, Egypt, South Africa, Senegal, Nigeria, Angola, Ethiopia, etc. . The yellow trade union leaderships were opposed to the establishment of OATUU because they supported the imperialists, colonialism and the plundering of Africa's wealth. WFTU and OATUU have been together for decades. A “Guinness World Record” for the ITUC – A 4-hour Congress!!!!

A few days ago, on October 12, the ITUC leadership held a 4-hour World Congress. Yes. A “cartoon congress”.

ITUC trade unionists protested and said they were disappointed with the fast-track "Congress" and the lack of democracy and meaningful debate. World Congress lasting 4 hours is certainly a world first. Especially a Congress where they discussed action plans and reports and also elected a new General Secretary, Luc Triangle from Belgium to replace Luca Visentini from Italy who was left as ITUC leader for a few months after being arrested with a large sum of money taken from Qatar to cover up crimes against thousands of workers who died in the World Cup projects in Qatar.

THE NATO DOGS ARE BARKING AGAIN

In every corner of the world, all the major media outlets serve the propaganda of the USA, NATO and the European Union in favor of Israel and against the heroic Palestinian people. We are witnessing the same propaganda scenario as the one we were served at the beginning of the war in Ukraine. Same scenario, same protagonists, constant lies and made-up news. The imperialists' propaganda has the following goals:

1] to exonerate Israel's crimes against the Palestinians; and

2]to prepare and serve the US strategy in the wider region.

Journalists, scientists, various experts who get their instructions from the embassies of the USA and their allies bark like loyal dogs for their masters who are setting a new fire in the region.

We and those who know a little history are firmly and unconditionally with the heroic Palestinian people who have suffered 75 years of Israeli barbarism. We stand with their right to have their own state with East Jerusalem as its capital. The recognition of an independent Palestinian State with its own borders and its international recognition as a sovereign state entity is the first and most basic condition for the two peoples of Palestine and Israel to be able to live in peace.

The class-oriented unions all over the world must express their internationalist solidarity with Palestine, tormented Gaza and the West Bank with demonstrations and protests. Proud of the WFTU

In Paris, in the Palais de Chaillot, the WFTU was founded on 3 October 1945. We are proud of its history. The most militant demands for youth, working women, workers, pensioners, immigrants, scientists were written in the banners, in the action, in the texts of the WFTU. It played a leading role in founding, developing and strengthening trade unions in every corner of the world. It has demonstrated the value of trade union freedoms and the right to strike.

When the ITUC (ICFTU) supported colonialism, dictatorships and the international bourgeoisie, the WFTU and its cadres gave their lives for the liberation of peoples.

The ITUC (ICFTU) supported the USA in the Vietnam war, Pinochet in Chile, the Shah in Persia, the imperialists in the Korean war; it has always been against the people: in Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria. But the WFTU has always been with the people who resisted. When the ITUC had the Israeli Minister of War on its Executive Committee, the WFTU was with the Palestinian people and the people of Lebanon.

We honour the history of the WFTU because despite its difficulties, weaknesses and sometimes mistakes, its contribution to the world working class is unique.

Bad news from Palestine

A great militant of the Palestinian people has passed away. Haidar Ibrahim is going to meet Yasser Arafat. They fought for their people throughout their lives. Not with words but with actions, with weapons, with concrete activities and initiatives.

I had the privilege of working with Haidar Ibrahim for the entire 30-year period that he served the WFTU as Vice President. We honor and respect him.

At the 10th WFTU Congress, held in 1982 in Havana, Cuba, September 1 was declared a day of trade union action for peace. On September 1, 1939, fascist Germany had launched the disastrous WWII. OBSCURANTISM

En 1991, con la disolución de la Unión Soviética, Ucrania como Estado independiente tenía una población de 52 millones de habitantes. Los medios de comunicación occidentales escriben que 350 mil son hasta ahora los ucranianos mu***os en la guerra y 700 mil los heridos y desaparecidos. Si nos basamos en las estadísticas internacionales, que muestran que de los que están en el extranjero sólo regresa el 15%, el panorama es decepcionante. Y si tenemos en cuenta que los mu***os son sobre todo jóvenes que habrían dado a luz y que lo que quede de Ucrania será un paisaje lunar, podemos comprender la miseria y la explotación que prevalecerán cuando los capitalistas se apresuren sin piedad a la "reconstrucción".

La necesidad inmediata es una: ¡Parar la guerra ya!

Pierre Gensous: a great figure

On a day like today in 1925 was born the French militant Pierre Gensous; anti-fascist militant, leader of the glorious years of the French CGT and General Secretary of the World Federation of Trade Unions. We respected him when he was alive and we honor him now that he is gone. Today, in times of opportunism and social corporatism, we need to reflect and draw strength from the principles, values and personal example of leaders of the class-oriented trade union movement who have honored their social origins and dedicated their lives to the social emancipation of the working class and its allies.

Elles méritent notre respect et notre solidarité.

Tomorrow might be too late

In addition, NATO's order to all member states to spend 2% of their GDP on military armaments each year means new burdens for the people and new profits for the military-industrial complex.

The large-scale US-Australia-Japan-South Korea-France military exercise in the Pacific Ocean is even more dangerous, as it is aimed at preparing the US for a war against China.

The situation is dangerous. The nuclear dangers are getting closer and closer. No union must remain inactive. The fight for the dismantling of NATO is now. Stop the NATO-Russia war in Ukraine. Protest. No trade unionist, no trade union should be silent. Tomorrow might be too late.
