Harley is playing with a flirtpole with his friends in doggie daycare today.
Highly recommend flirtpoles:
ðķ They are a great way to burn off excess energy. The second video is how tired Harley is after about just 10 minutes with the pole
ðķ Harley doesn't get walked around the neighbourhood anymore because he is highly reactive which suggests he does not feel comfortable. Instead he is taken to quiet places away from the neighbourhood where he can just go for a run in peace. The flirtpole is a great alternative to allow him to have some exercise without having to go for a walk everyday

I don't like other dogs in my face and don't feel comfortable walking around Papamoa. I just can't cope with the dumb irresponsible dog owners! ðĪ
There are lots of cool places Mum takes me, when the tide is out, so I can go for a big run, chase birds and have a swim âĪ
This is what I really love doing, with no one else around to annoy me.
Do you have any recommendations of some more cool and quiet places Mum could take me? She doesn't mind travelling a bit out of Papamoa if it means we can have some peace.

Day 5 - Treasure Box Surprise
ðķ Put cardboard rolls, small cardboard boxes, plastic bottles, paper, etc (whatever you have in your recycling) into a large cardboard box. Fill the inside, around and top of objects with treats and scatter treats in the cardboard box. Allow your dog to investigate.

This is all about the environment and getting Harley to focus on me (his Mum).
I am so super impressed with him. When I take him here it's usually for an off leash run, chasing birds, swimming in the stream, sniffing amongst the trees. I didn't even have to hold his lead ðķ

Ask Harley to sit, when he does say "yes" and throw a treat for him. He then has a choice of what to do next. When he comes back to you say "yes" and treat him from your hand. Repeat ðū

Mum's been doing alot of training with me today. Usually I am a bit quicker when she asks me to do something but I am so tired. She told me she is super impressed with how I did, considering how tired I am, and that I am the goodest boy ð

Activity for Day 2 - Awareness
Try to understand Harley and be aware of his triggers.
ðķ Identify his triggers - Leash reactivity towards other dogs due to possible fear and frustration. He is confined to a lead so another unknown dog coming into his space is intimidating. Harley is great off leash runs around chases birds etc so I suspect he feels too restrained being on a lead leading to frustration.
ðķ How do I feel at the moment?
Frustrated. I did alot of training with Harley and we had come a long way. Then I unfortunately broke my ankle so was unable to walk him for 6 months. I am still recovering so cannot move as fast as i'd like to remove him from situations.
Anxious. Walks are very stressful due to other people and their lack of awareness and common courtesy towards other dogs and dog walkers.
ðķ How do I hope to feel in the future?
I hope we can both feel alot more relaxed and be able to go for a calm stress free walk.
I wish we could raise more awareness to the general public but unfortunately we can't do anything about other people's attitude ð

I am a mentor dog for her and being introduced to some smaller, younger dogs.
I have been reading the situation really well and just giving the dog's who are wary of me some space and doing my own thing.
