For those who don’t know, in Judaism after a funeral you go to your loved one’s house to “sit shiva” which means to sit and reminisce about the person you lost. In 2018 we lost my cousin Michael, a creative and a musician like myself. He always supported me and my art, and after his shiva I came home and made this beat. I wrote a verse/prechorus and got so stuck on the hook so I sat on the song for years.

It was only after I finished writing it that I realized I had written about a shiva in reverse. Instead of sitting around reminiscing someone you’ve lost, it’s about the feeling of sitting around with the person you know you’re about to lose.

So many people had a hand in helping me make this song everything I knew it could be. Thank you to for sprinkling some synths and guitar licks in the mix, thank you to and for helping me hone in on this mix, and thank you to for killing the master as usual🖤
