Been a wee bit slack on here lately 🙊 Juggling full-time postgrad study, PTing & training has taken a bit of getting used to 🤹 but we’re still here, chipping away at physical and mental growth 🧠💪.

Really enjoying training at the moment, almost every session I feel like I have racehorse blinkers on and it’s just me, my music, and the weights 🖤💪. Improvement season can be just as difficult mentally as comp prep, but setting different goals and shifting your focus is the key 🔑 to long term progress 📈

Tried out some new exercises & reintroduced some old ones for leg day today 🙌🦵I think I’ll be waddling around the gym tomorrow 🦆😂 As always, I got way too carried away with my workout to actually film any of it but I’ll try tomorrow 😅😂

It’s totally normal to go through slumps in motivation. If you’re currently struggling with this, here are some tips to get yourself back in the zone:
🔹put your favourite hype music on.
🔹watch a motivational video before training.
🔹have a coffee! Sometimes you might just be a bit tired.
🔹change up your workout, you might just be bored of doing the same thing.
🔹train with a friend! You can help keep each other accountable.
🔹train in the morning, so you don’t have to worry about it after a long day at work.
🔹try out a new gym, sometimes a change in scenery is all you need!
Honest truth: it took a whole lotta guts and about 30 minutes of self-talk to wear a crop to the gym in the midst of my off-season, and then taking a photo in the middle of the gym just so I had photo evidence 😅.
One of the most challenging things about an off/growth/improvement season is losing muscle definition, but when you balance it out with being able to lift heavy sh*t again & getting stronger by the week, it ain’t all that bad 😉🤷🏼♀️.

What do you look forward to when you get up in the morning? If there’s one thing lockdown taught me it’s that life is too short to live it in misery. If you’re not happy with what you’re doing, change it! So start that hobby, learn that thing, start that business. Whatever passion you’ve been neglecting, you may as well do it because at the end of the day, what’s the worst that could happen? 🤷🏼♀️.
Managed to work up to a 12kg Turkish get-up before the end of lockdown 🙌 Buuuuut I haven’t done one since 😅 So many exercises, so little time 😂. Well if nothing else, learning these showed me how weak my abs are & even though they’ve gone into hiding, I’ve been working on them 🥵😅
Dunno if you can tell but I kinda love lunges 🤷🏼♀️😂

Is anyone else feeling almost overwhelmed with all the different equipment we can now use?! 😂 my workouts feel like they’ve doubled in duration purely because I want to do every exercise 🤪. Yesterday was my first day back but I got so excited and carried away that I forgot to take a photo 😂😂 so here’s a shot from today’s workout 🏋🏼♀️😉.
One good thing to come out of this lockdown is that I’ve been able to challenge myself with new things & work on my weaknesses 💪👍.
I’ve learnt how to do a Turkish get-up, and done heaps of new variations of exercises I wouldn’t normally do like overhead walking lunges and funky burpee variations 👊😉. Yeah it sucked that we could go to the gym and it’s hard to make gains when you don’t have many weights to work with but you gotta look at the positives too 😊✌️.
Today’s leg day was fuelled by all the treats from our Mother’s Day high tea 🍰🧁🙊. Also, I think I’ve found my new favourite leg day exercise - overhead walking lunges🔥🔥.
