Playing a very cutesy ‘locker room’ party this Friday at the with my dude 🧖‍♂️ The cheekily-named has become a pretty hot event, and it’s been great to see starkey grow this concept in Seattle. If you’re looking for a way to cut loose [🏳️‍🌈😈] this Friday, this will be a proper way to do so!! Save some cash with a presale ticket (link in bio), and let’s boogie 💦🔊

Sailing on international waters …sorta 🇨🇦😜 Really though, the views on yesterday’s Menagerie boat cruise were stunning AF 🌅 More of this type of weather is in the forecast for today, which means it’s the PERFECT day for an outdoor block party, and is throwing a hot one!! [Swipe for the flyer, info in bio link] ☀️ I absolutely love a proper day party, and I’m thrilled to send out some bright and wavey vibes for this one; quite a contrast to last weekend’s set, ha. Catch me playing through the golden hour: 6:45ish-close. This event is sold out, but keep an eye on ’s IG (both stories and posts) as they may release more tickets as the day progresses. Hope to see you, and Happy Pride, Vancouver!! 🏳️‍🌈🔊

Is somebody gonna match my freak?! 😈

I’ve been a huge fan of Tinashe’s music for a very long time and her new track “Nasty” is a total JAM. It’s pretty dope that she posted the stems and invited everyone to remix the track 🤩 I’ve had this sorta menacing tech house tune that I’ve been sitting on, but was having trouble pairing a vocal to it. On a recent Sunday night whilst just relaxing on the couch, I dropped the “Nasty” vocal stem on it and it just felt like a pretty good fit. It’s not an official remix so it’s only on SoundCloud, but it’s available as a free download and can be listened to on SC (linked below). I hope you enjoy!! I haven’t played it out too much just yet, but I’m super stoked to put it in rotation 🤘 Thank you for any and all support 🙏 Hope your week is going well!!!

It’s been about a month since “You Can’t Stop Me” fully dropped on and I’m pretty stoked on all the love it’s been receiving 🥰 As part of it, I experienced a new first: press coverage! I’m sure it’s something that big artists are fairly accustomed to, but it’s pretty dang fresh and exciting to me, especially considering the coverage has come from different parts of the world 🌎 Big thanks to these publications for the feature! 🙏 It’s truly an honor, and it was really cool to shed some light on my creative process with the track as well as some information about myself, my inspiration, and my background (Seattle came up several times, and I’m proud representative! 💙). You can listen to “You Can’t Stop Me” on your platform of choice, so throw it on and get into it! Again, thank you so much for the support in all forms; keep dancin’!! 🔊

Summer is comin’ in [literally] hot!! After Pride, and especially after July 4th, is always when it seems like Seattle’s beautiful summer weather finally stops faking us out and I am sooo here for it! Over the next two months, I’ll be playing some really fun events locally as well as in SF and Vancouver: sweaty residency sets on my home turf, a sexy one-off thing in White Center, a wild event at a massive venue during Dore, a dope block party in Vancouver, a wavey boat cruise also in Vancouver, and more to be announced 😎 I’m also super stoked to be droppin’ another house track on a rad label next Friday. It’s been going off in my sets so I can’t wait to share 🤘 Stay tuned for that, and let me know in the comments where we’re dancing! Swipe ➡️ for available flyers 🤩 Applicable links (tickets, track pre-orders, etc.) can be reached here: https://lnk.bio/alfonsotan. Survived Friday (and Thursday 😅) of Pride Weekend 🏳️‍🌈 If you are out celebrating, I hope it’s off to a good start for you!! I saw a ton of friends yesterday, and many of them asked where to catch me this weekend. This might be a little repetitive, but my last post got some weird label, so I figured a few quick pictures of the physical locations was helpful (along with some of yesterday’s fun 🌭). The weather is looking lovely and I can’t wait to send it for the community 🚀 Hope to see you out there!!

Release Day is back, baby!! I am super stoked to be back on Build It Records for their 2024 Summer Compilation with my tune “Drop That” 😎 It’s a cheeky tech house groover with some fun vocal chops and a gravel-laden bass line. Trust that it’ll be in my arsenal as we kick off Pride weekend in Seattle 🏳️‍🌈 The whole compilation is HEAT (been lovin’ what the Hot Keys boys are doing 🔥), so give it a listen with the link in the comments. Hey friends and fellow music heads! For those interested, I whipped up a little overview of some of the key sounds that make up my track “You Can’t Stop Me” on Adesso Music. Most of it is done with stock Ableton plug-ins; Wavetable is one of my favorites! Another important thing that I cover is the value of producing with a flat signal (via Sonarworkss for me). This is especially important if you don’t have access to a full studio or you are producing on the road. These are quick and simplified explanations, so feel free to DM me if you want more detail on any of the things I talk about 😎 You can check out the finished track here https://lnk.to/youcantstopme — enjoy 🔊!!

⬜️ Rockin’ white this weekend (swipe ➡️ for the reason)

…In a recent Mixmag Brasil interview, I shared about my new track “You Can’t Stop Me,” my background/influences/musical approach, and Seattle’s scene. Something I mention regarding the scene is how there has been a pretty significant number of new, smaller, crews throwing events all over Seattle lately. It’s really cool to see people taking matters into their own hands and being resourceful. As someone that kinda broke into the scene by first throwing events that I could play at, I really appreciate the grassroots/DIY approach that these folks are taking. One of the relatively new squads is the .collective. I had a ton of fun rockin’ their event at NBD Gallery, so I’m stoked to be back at it with them again. This Saturday, join us for a White Party in the Basement 🤍 I’m hyped to be playing there for the first time after seeing several events totally go off! In honor of Pride Month, Tech It has filled the roster with some dope LGBTQ+ talent 🏳️‍🌈 There’s a ticket link in my bio, so take some of that summer solstice energy and get down with us!! I play 11-12, but all night will be 🥵🥵

*NOTE - white attire is encouraged, but not required.

Did the sun wake anyone else up earlier than they wanted, or was that just me? Anyhow, it’s looking like it’s gonna be a super nice PNW day and I’m heading a touch south this afternoon to provide some sounds for at the Street Festival 😎 In a recent interview, I mentioned that C89.5FM had a pretty big influence on me while growing up, and how fortunate Seattle is to have had a dance music radio station for so long. I hadn’t realized that this was uncommon for cities until recently. Also, C89.5FM has been a *very* long-time supporter of the LGBTQ+ community ❤️ All that said, it’s pretty cool to be playing a big event for them! If you’re looking for something to do today, this will be a grrreat option ☀️ I close C89.5FM’s segment with a 1:30-3:00PM set. Hope to see you there!!

📣 It’s release day!! A couple of weeks ago, I announced that I would be dropping a new single on ( and ‘s killer label), and phase two of the release happens today: the radio edit of “You Can’t Stop Me” is now available on all streaming platforms. I’m sooo hyped that it’s finally available to the general public! Stream it by looking me up in on whatever platform you use, or by using this link: https://lnk.to/YouCantStopMe. I hope this tune gets you in the mood for the weekend!!

Backstory: “You Can’t Stop Me” was something I started back in July 2023. After making a few random things (like an emo Bass House tune), I wanted to create something with more of a rolling groove. Interestingly, the constant movement of rail transit also served as inspiration. If you listen closely, you can actually hear the BART running in the background. I got the track’s basics down quickly, but then struggled for a while to get them to sound ‘just right.’ Some bass notes weren’t hitting properly, the vocal needed more variation, etc. It was frustrating. Still, I learned A LOT through experimenting until I got the sound I wanted. The last parts of the track came together as I was traveling through Croatia and Spain at the end of last summer. I was feeling really inspired from the music events I had attended and used the downtime during the trip to nail down the track’s final bits. “You Can’t Stop Me” certainly has some sentimental value because of this ❤️

🙏 Big thanks to Adesso Music for picking up the tune! I’m a big fan of the music that they put out and this is a song that I’m super thrilled about, so I’m grateful that it found a great home. As always, playlist adds, plays, shares, etc. are all appreciated. Thanks for the love!!

TBT to my opening DJ set for Real Bad 34 last year during Folsom Weekend 😈

I dug up this photo because I can finally announce that at the end of July, I make my way back to San Francisco’s 1015 Folsom to rock REAL BAD: RITUAL 🍖 I am super honored to once again be working with the Grass Roots Gay Rights Foundation after getting to play Real Bad 34. That was a wiiild one, so I’m stoked to be providing the soundtrack for the GRGRF’s Dore event at the same location. Ritual has been an after hours party in the past, but now it’s moved into a prime slot on Friday (7/26) of Dore Alley Weekend. It’s a huge weekend that attracts the gay community from all over, so you know this thing is gonna go off 🚀 I’ve been wanting to check out Dore for as long as I’ve known about it; what a way to be doing it! Expect some dirty house grooves, and maybe even some techno 🤘

Tickets went on sale earlier this week and are already moving fast 😎 If you’re in SF that weekend, you know what to do. Ticket link in bio 🎟️🥩

May will be starting off in a pretty rad way 🤘 I’ll be throwing it down with the relatively new TECH IT Collective for a Boiler Room-Style party at the [also] relatively new No Bad Days Gallery. I haven’t been in the space in it’s current form, but it’s built into a pretty storied building in Capitol Hill (think: Alive and Well, Honey Hole, etc), and from what I’ve seen in pictures, it looks like the perfect spot for a wild night, which this is set to be 🥵 Early Bird tickets are on sale now, and if you use promo code ‘ALFONSO’ when you check out, you’ll save an extra $5 on an already-cheap ticket. Earlier this year, I had the honor and pleasure of being a guest on Seattle House Mafia’s Industry Interview series. I shared some fun stories, talked about an issue that the local q***r scene faced earlier this year, and gave some advice to new DJ’s. I also threw down a mix that I’m pretty hyped on that I just uploaded to my Soundcloud 😎 It’s got a blend of personally memorable songs that I’ve played frequently throughout my journey as a DJ, as well as many of my own tunes. I purposely stayed away from songs that were too new, so hopefully that lends itself to a more timeless mix. Peep it on my Soundcloud, or with the link below, or drop a comment here and I can DM it to you. Enjoy & Happy Tuesday!! 🔊🔊 As usual, likes, shares, follows, and comments are all helpful and appreciated!

🏳️‍🌈 Look what just got announced, y’all!! One of Seattle’s best and longest-running street parties is back once again with an extra-thiccc lineup 💪 I’m once again super stoked about the q***r music festival vibe that this team is bringing. Trust, you will be in grrreat hands all weekend with this roster of dance music heavyweights, big forces in the ‘gay lane,’ underground selectors, a killer squad of locals, and a wild crew of hosts and performers. Given how special ’s Pride Block Party has been as I’ve grown into the gay man that I am (first attended in 2013), it’s a huge honor to now be a part of it and playing along side so many rad folks. I might be biased, but I also truly believe this version of the block party is the best it’s ever been. See you on 13th Ave!!

It’s been a solid minute since I’ve rocked ’s dance floor with some buds from Seattle’s music scene, so I’m pretty hyped that I get to share the decks with these rad humans this Saturday 🤩🤘 These two need no introduction, buuuut [swipe as well]:
dj has been one of my long-time faves, seemingly tapped into the brains of myself and everyone else, given her ability to shake up the club. We’ve had a blast playing events together, but it’s been quite a while. The last time was in August of 2022 to celebrate her well-deserved residency, so I can’t wait to boogie with her again!

’s alter-ego as an audio engineer () and I have worked together quite a bit, but we’ve never played a show together. The first time I heard him was during a lockdown livestream festival that Tony H threw and I was seriously blown away. He also just signed a track to Nervous Records 🤯 Talk about being super f’ing talented on multiple fronts. I’m super stoked to hear what he’s got up his sleeve!

I hope that those in town can join because there’s gonna be some serious 🔥 thrown between the 3 of us —— hurry up and get here, Saturday!!

Writing About One’s Self is Difficult

It wasn't that long ago when Alfonso Tan was shown the absolute basics about DJ'ing. However, in a short amount of time, he's become quite familiar with the dynamics of mixing, track selection, building a story, setting a mood, and making people move. House music is his foundation and main love, and he finds enjoyment in many forms of electronic dance music. Striking a solid vibe with his listeners is what makes him happiest. He grew up on '90's era underground hip hop, R&B, electronica, indie rock, video games, sportscars, snowboarding, and Pacific Northwest culture; the positive influence on his sound is apparent. With Alfonso, the sound has to bounce, groove, connect with the crowd, and have the right attitude. He's covered a lot of ground in his relatively short journey as a DJ: playing for many of Seattle's more prominent outfits (LOST, Nark Magazine, Field Trip, Uniting Souls, Studio 4/4, etc.) at the city's hottest venues (Monkey Loft, Q Nightclub, Kremwerk, Re-Bar, etc.), as well as venturing out to rock parties in Vancouver and Boston. Whether it be an intimate basement, underground rave, sprawling club, or sunny, rooftop deck, Alfonso knows how to hit the proper groove. Alfonso Tan currently holds a residency with the infamous LOST Family, and often plays for the often-misbehaved Nark Magazine. Music has always been an important force in Alfonso's life, and he aims to channel its power through his DJ'ing.
