Happy Pride Month to all the LGBTQIA+ students, staff, families and friends of CCSD!
N.A.S.D. sends the fondest thanks to Grant Frailich for all he has done for LGBTQIA+ kids and families in the Southern Nevada area. We know Grant will be an asset wherever he goes and he has certainly given our community a gift with Camp Pride Tree! Congrats, Grant!
Dear The Pride Tree community,
We have a bittersweet announcement to share with our community. After three and a half years of leading the organization, our Founder, Grant Frailich, will be embarking on an exciting new journey beginning in July.
A former teacher, Grant was inspired to found The Pride Tree after realizing how few safe spaces existed for LGBTQ+ youth in Las Vegas. As an ally, Grant worked tirelessly to create Camp Pride Tree, in addition to countless other amazing community events including Pride parades, community cleanups and 30 Days of Pride programming.
Under Grant's leadership, across three summers of Camp Pride Tree, we have been able to provide over 100 campers with a life-changing summer camp experience. We have awarded over $40,000 in camper scholarships and are proud to say that every single child who has requested a scholarship has been awarded one.
As we move forward, The Pride Tree board remains committed to creating safe and engaging spaces for LGBTQ+ youth. Thank you to everyone involved in The Pride Tree community for your ongoing commitment to creating a world where LGBTQ+ youth and young adults can be their full authentic selves.

Celebrate!
Today we're commemorating . Let's celebrate as a community and reflect on what this day means to us and the importance of freedom for all! ❤️
Nevada Alliance for Student Diversity (N.A.S.D.) is a parent-led and parent-focused organization. We offer peer support to the many involved, affirming parents and caregivers who celebrate their gender-expansive youth in Nevada and surrounding states. We are proud to stand with families who uplift their trans, non-binary, and otherwise gender-diverse kids. We will continue to support families, educate the community, celebrate all LGBTQIA+ youth and fight for positive change despite the growing efforts to silence us.
Who is “us”? Parents.
We survive on your generous private donations. Thank you! Donation link in comments.

Today we honor all the fierce Mama Bears who wholeheartedly and unconditionally love, affirm, and celebrate their LGBTQ children! We also want to recognize those who have stepped up and stepped in to fill the void of a missing or unsupportive parent.
We know today can be a hard day for some folks, and our hearts are with you today (and all days) as well.

Our advocate is seeing the same question pop up in emails: "My child uses a cell phone during the day for _____. Will they take it away under the new cell phone policy next year?"
Let's answer that question with a question: Is it in the IEP or 504?
If access to a cell phone is an accommodation in the IEP or 504, the student must have access to their phone.
Phones are such a distraction in the classroom for teachers and for students and CCSD is getting tough with phones next year, including the district-wide use of non-locking signal-blocking pouches. If the team agrees the student requires a cell phone accommodation to access their education, set clear guidelines for your child's phone use and communicate them clearly. If issues occur, work with the team to develop a plan for intervention and support.
In the end, advocating for your child's right to cell phone access isn't just about following the rules—it's about doing what's best for your child and meeting their individual needs in school.

You can use many positive adjectives about individuals with ADHD. What three positive adjectives (listed below or not) best describe your child?
Yea!
Make the choice to include your pronouns in your social media bio, email signature, zoom box etc.
Unless using your pronouns outs you before you're ready, makes you unsafe OR you are still using a set that doesn’t feel comfortable, DISPLAY YOUR PRONOUNS.
Most platforms now ask for and have space for this.
Doing it signals that you are a safe person.

Let's work together create a world where all kids can live authentically without fear. We see you. We celebrate you.

Nevada Alliance for Student Diversity joins in the celebration of Neurodiversity Celebration Week March 18-24, 2024!
Neurodiversity Celebration Week was started in 2018 by Siena Castellon when she was 16 year old. It aims to encourage schools to recognize the strengths and talents of neurodivergent students who think and learn differently, including students who are autistic, dyslexic, dyspraxic, or who have ADHD.
