🎉Today another milestone for the construction of RV Anna Weber-van Bosse: the official keel laying ceremony! This is done once 1% of the weight of the steel has been assembled.💪
🧩Shipyard Astilleros Armon in Vigo is building the vessel’s hull in sections, whose dimensions and weight will be determined based on the space available for construction and the lifting capacity of the production facility’s cranes. Around 40 of these sections will be assembled in various locations at the shipyard. Once assembled, the sections will be transported to the assembly facility. All in all an impressive puzzle!
With the welding of the ‘coin for good luck’ by Gert Jan Reichart and Henk Oenema we celebrated the start of the construction of the new Dutch ocean going research vessel Anna Weber-van Bosse at Armon Shipyards in Vigo today!
💪In preparation for the start of the construction of RV Anna Weber-van Bosse tomorrow, the first steel plate was cut today, in the presence of the site team.

😍 What a beauty RV Wim Wolff is becoming at Thecla Bodewes Shipyards in Harlingen. It is almost time to launch her!
This week the first model tests of the RV Anna Weber-van Bosse took place at MARIN in the presence of representatives of the shipyard, our own newbuild siteteam, crew and scientists.
An exciting moment at which for the first time all brainwork, design and imagination from the past years of preparation come to life in a tangible hull shape in the test basin. Specially exciting because good results were shown!
👀Sneak preview!
In the final construction facility at Thecla Bodewes Shipyards in Harlingen builders are hard at work on finishing the RV Wim Wolff.
With sometimes 30 people working at the same time, a clear and detailed schedule to guide the process comes in handy!

This week, the contract has been signed with Teledyne Marine for the manufacturing of an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) which will greatly enhance Dutch scientific research in oceans and on the sea floor.
The device can be deployed autonomous and flexibly for precise measurements and high-resolution visualisation. Funding was obtained by a national consortium and the innovative research equipment provided the first steps towards the overall renewal of the Dutch research fleet.

Update construction RV Adriaen Coenen
With just a few months to go until delivery, the finished hull of the RV Adriaen Coenen is beginning to take shape. Several pipelines were installed last month, cable ducts and cables have been fitted in position, and most of the insulation is complete.
The total length of cabling aboard the vessel is approx. 7 km! That might seem like a lot for such a relatively small ship like but it will be operated by a crew of one - the skipper. That means the engine room and all equipment must be ‘manned’ electronically, and therefore fitted with alarm systems.
The technology on board the RV Adriaen Coenen is state-of-the-art, including the hydrojet propulsion system, the energy management system and the scientific equipment. That all requires a wide variety of cables running through every compartment.
Update construction RV Adriaen Coenen at NG Shipyards: The insulation of the ship is almost complete. Here in the photo the crew's quarters. It already looks quite comfortable 😊
Construction is proceeding as planned and will be completed this summer.
The construction of the hull of RV Wim Wolff is in full swing. The different sections are built at N.Dijkstra Metaalbewerking, KB Alubouw and Alubouw Fryslan.
On the pictures 👇 you see the future front of the superstructure with clearly recognizable windows of the mess room.
VIDEO | Keel laying RV Wim Wolff 9 nov 21 | Aftermovie
On 9 November 2021, the festive keel laying of the new national Wadden and Delta research vessel, RV Wim Wolff, took place at N. Dijkstra Metaalbewerking in Harlingen. The aluminium hull is built here by order of Thecla Bodewes Shipyards, the main contractor. Tradition has it that a coin is welded onto the keel beam 'for good luck'. Under the watchful eye of many guests, this operation was performed by Bram Fey, future skipper of RV Wim Wolff. Watch here: 👇 https://youtu.be/d4mX-wPuCG8
