The art of making book trailers is a combination of animation, illustration, videography, typography and literacy. Book trailers are important because not only do they serve as a marketing standpoint when selling your books, but kids, teens and adults are drawn to this style of animation, which serves as a visual synopsis of your book. Instead of telling someone what your book is about, show them.

I have been making book trailers since late 2014, but have been video editing for many years. My debut picture book trailer for author Salina Yoon's BE A FRIEND premiered on John Schumacher's Watch. The trailer I created for Joyce Wan and Laura Gehl's PEEP & EGG was even showcased at the Bologna Children's Book Fair, and I've created book trailers for some of the top publishing houses such as Macmillan Children's Books and HarperCollins. The greatest joy of making book trailers is being able to animate an illustrator's work and learn to appreciate their line work, tinting and shading and overall design. There are many ways you can make a book trailer and many programs you can use. These are the ones I use to create these little mini book movies! Cat-Tastic Package - This package includes animated characters, scenery, text, music, voice overs, effects and can go as far as using TV Paint for character design and traditional animation, if your book does not include illustrations. If you are a YA author who does not have illustrations for your book I offer to make a traditional animation of the story with my own illustrations, which includes script writing, story boarding, character design and traditional animation. This is the most expensive package since it is studio work. Another package I offer to books without illustrations is Typography and Narration. The story will be told with the use of text and narration. The book's cover will be shown at the end of the video. I can also use stock images of your choice, or take images that represent the story. The third package I offer to books without illustrations is a mixture of the first two. It is traditional animation, but with one scene or character telling the story. Cat Package - This package includes animated characters and music. Kitten Package - This package includes a slideshow of your work and music. Programs:

TV Paint - Professional animation software that takes traditional animation to the next level. Adobe After Effects CS6 - An advanced video editing program where I make all of my smooth animations in. Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 - Another Adobe video editing program where I touch up and finalize the project. Adobe Audition CS6 - A professional audio editor. I edit voice-overs and music in here.
